Would you be mad if Kentucky packed up and moved to the Big 10?

It would help your efforts even more in Ohio where you like to recruit. You could play Indiana and Michigan State twice a year in hoops.

It would be self defeating. We are selling opportunity to get an education and play SEC ball close to home. We would just look like Michigan State or Penn State if we joined the B10, with less tradition, but better facilities. It feels funny to say that last part. It would not sit well with UK hoops, since we would actually see regular competition in the conference schedule, instead of a competitive conference schedule being exceptional.

Now is not the time to go and make brash decisions.

Big 10 doesn't offer UK anything. It's just as tough of a road on Saturdays as well as the recruiting trail.

CMS has made as much hay in his home state as he ever will. Not too many people are going to go up there and take the cream of the crop from OSU, Michigan, Penn St, Michigan St, and Wisconsin. After the Big 10 picks it, you still have pretty much every conference coming in and fighting for left overs.

I'll take scraps from Florida, Georgia, and pretty much anywhere down south any time. If we start to consistently finish middle of the pack or better in the SEC, get to bowl games, have top performers like Boom and Benny, etc, that will carry plenty of weight in homes all across the land.

Pissed.....but it'll never happen. Although we are the northernmost state in the south, we are still southern by culture and pride. We like our tea sweet, our chicken fried, our beautiful women, bourbon, BBQ (here in Owensboro for sure) and the Cats. Kentucky. Mercia.

I think we'd do better in the ACC .... In the ACC we could cheat like Pitino and Petrino do on their wives and the media and NCAA would just look the other way.

I wouldn't go any farther north than the Ohio river for way to many reasons, to many to mention, The SEC is the toughest conference in the land, always has been. There are many schools that would be glad to take Kentucky's place, there is nothing like college football on Saturdays in the south.

You think UK basketball is afraid of competition? I seriously doubt that. It would help with seeding as UK could absorb more defeats and not be punished like they are when they lose SEC basketball games. UK is so good they are going to win the majority of the games most years anyways regardless of conference.

I agree with you on the football points. I like where we are. We can rise in the SEC East. We already are moving up. We have to sustain it.

I would move to the ACC or Big 10 in a heartbeat. I know that most in our fanbase do not share this opinion b/c there is some weird infatuation with the SEC, but here are my reasons:

1) Better academics. For those of us with a UK degree, this matters. For the academics and university dignitaries, this matters a lot.

2) Better chance to win in football. Is the east down? Yes. Will it last forever? No. UK could do quite well in the ACC or BIG.

3) Money is equivalent in the BIG (not in the ACC). BIG makes huge money, just as much or more than the SEC. It's no secret that the BIG and SEC are the two most powerful dominant conferences and that isn't changing any time soon.

4) Better competition in basketball. BIG and ACC care about basketball. SEC, in general (i.e. everyone outside of UK, Vandy, UT, and to a lesser extent, arkansas and missouri), does not.

5) Better rivalries. No one in the SEC views UK as a rival except for, maybe, Vandy. In the BIG, UK would have Indiana, Ohio State, potentially Purdue and Illinois. In basketball, you'd have built-in rivalries with Indiana, MSU, OSU, Illinois.

I'd make this move in a heartbeat, but I'm confident UK administrators would not b/c of our fanbase's weird love for the SEC and all things southern.

WTF? First off moving to the Big 10 wouldn't help us recruiting against other Big 10 schools. If anything it would hurt. We get guys from Ohio because of Stoops' connections plus those guys want to play in the SEC. If we move then we wouldn't be able to give them that opportunity.

Second who wants to play Indiana and Mich State?

I call bs on all of those.

Better chance to win in FB? We barely have a winning record against iu, one of the worst in the b10.

Better academics? How the eff does that work? Vandy is one of the top schools in the country. Does that make academics at UK better?

Better rivalries? Smh

Anyone like you, that is for moving to the big10, is only doing it for selfish reasons. You are stuck in the big 10.

I would favor a move the the Big Ten only if we relocate the Ohio River the the Tennessee line, and I oppose the movement of the Ohio River.

We are NOT mid-western by the grace of God!

Maybe the Vols could move to the Sunbelt conference. That way UT football could be relevant again and actually have a chance to win a championship.
