Sure, its not unlike masterbation (achieving orgasm without a live partner). Masterbation at a much higher level. Make them super life like and skilled like that one in Battlestar Galactica, then my sex life with my wife would probably be in trouble.
I would be afraid that the robot contracted a virus and cause my hard drive to go floppy. I will take the Joaquin Phoenix route and just have sex with a voice like he does in the movie her.
If this happens then it won't be long before groups start to lobby saying that robots have feelings and that they shouldn't be sex slaves. Laws would be passed that would outlaw sex robots. Dogs and cats living together.....mass hysteria.
If you have a sex robot, you do not have a girlfriend or wife. It's not like you could easily hide that thing when people come over.
Campaign launched against 'harmful' sex robots
Kathleen Richardson, a robot anthropologist and ethicist at De Montfort University in Leicester, U.K., is leading the campaign and warned that sex robots might come in the guise of children, as well as adult women.
"When I first started looking into the subject I thought, 'oh sex robots, that's harmless and perhaps these robots would reduce demand for real women and children,'" she told CNBC on Tuesday.
"But then as I researched the subject more I found that the opposite was true—that rather than reduce the objectification of women, children and also men and transgender people, these robots would contribute and reinforce their position in society (as objects)."
She added: "We have the real use of women and children in the real world (as sex objects) and this kind of paraphernalia reinforces that message."
