Would you still follow KSR without Matt Jones?

With Matt contemplating a run at the senate I think this is an interesting topic since most of us on here do follow KSR. Personally, I would follow it to an extent but my interest diminish a great deal. Without Matt the KSR morning show becomes Big Blue Insider, the website would be no more interesting than any other UK sports site even though Matt never posts articles anymore.

Like or hate Matt you can't deny that he is the unofficial voice of UK.I will say though that if Matt does leave it leaves a huge vacuum for someone to fill. His personalty is what sold the brand. His shoes will be hard to fill.

Are you serious? Unofficial voice of UK? If that is true we are in a world of hurt for a voice. Matt Jones has a radio show. Period. He is not a voice of UK any more than he is a voice of Duke which is where he got a degree. He just talks on the radio and is wrong more than he is right. He thinks UK basketball started with Rick Pitino and has no concept of UK basketball before Richie Farmer. I didn't realize we had fallen so far in the basketball world. Matt Jones???

Can’t imagine him winning a political seat. People don’t like him that well. To answer the question, my interest would be about the same-I watch when it’s on but don’t make a point to look for it.

Will never vote for him & I don’t listen to him now. I do browse their articles every couple days. I might even enjoy the site more without him. lol

Matt would be wise to stick to KSR. He's got a good thing going there. Politics are pretty dicey, especially when you're as liberal as Matt and reside in a very conservative state like Kentucky. I just can't see him going very far in politics.

He'll be back quickly...zero shot against MM besides he probably can't win the Democratic slot.

I enjoy KSR. I wish he wouldn’t turn it into a part time political forum for the next year till he decides to run or not. He will lose a ton of listeners that way.

KSR without him would die imo. I’d hate to see that.

I like Matt Jones. The political stuff is hurting him already, and going to destroy his brand. Now if running for senator of KY is your lifelong dream, I guess go for it. But his chances of winning are very very low. It will be hard for him to recover his radio show after running. Regardless if you run as a republican or democrat, you are going to lose 40-50 percent of your audience. I wish he would stop the political stuff.

I have a real good feeling this won't be like the other Matt Jones threads. Today will be the day!

I'm not sure this is accurate. Everyone that listens now knows where Matt stands politically and they still listen. Can't see him losing 40/50% after.

I listen to it in spite of him
Agree 100%, if he runs for office, especially the US Senate, he'll never get elected in Kentucky. He better not quit his day job, humor, satire and general BS is his gig...then again he might fit in up there in DC just not representing KY. When politics, either side, are brought into sports it is an immediate turnoff for me.

Mitch McConnell for better or (for)worse is one of the most powerful men in the country. Matt Jones has a nice following in Kentucky but it's in large part on the backs of UK Football and Basketball. He'll compete in the Eastern portion of the state but will get trounced in Metropolitan Louisville and Western Kentucky. Jones isn't stupid therefore I suspect this is simply a marketing ploy creating more publicity for his brand. Jmho

Correct, and I don’t care one way or the other.
Colin Cowherd used to always say that the key to radio success were for people to either love you or hate you, if they’re indifferent you’re doomed. The ones who love listen because they love you , the ones that hate you listen so they can thrash you. Matt is smarter and more calculated than given credit for when it comes to this.

Matt Jones has two chances in his run for Senate: Slim and None! His impact on running for Senate will destroy his radio show, whose ratings have been already in decline. My prediction is that he won't run. Kentucky just won't support a Liberal in the Senate. He can't even get a station in Northern Kentucky, I listen about twice a week through the static on WLAP for UK news but that has been waning lately with other distractions.

I listen to his show from time-to-time when they're actually talking about UK sports...but if they're just talking jibberish I turn it off....jibberish meaning their favorite fast food joint or when they let the same goober call in and yak about whatever. MJ has carved out a nice niche for himself with KSR but he needs to be careful here IMO. Kentucky is a conservative state and it won't swing the other way just because of him...but he could piss off a good chunk of his listening base and drive his radio show into the ground. Again, just my opinion.
