Agree.
For those who don’t like the number of bowls, today featured two close and exciting games.
As for next year’s Army game in Norman, I hope it’s competitive with OU winning a hard-fought game.
It’s great to see Army football coming back. I hope its resurgence can be continued.

10-3 season for Army with a CIC trophy and beating a 10 win team in a bowl (that beat both Stanford and Arizona State) what parallel universe am I living in?

That last drive was something. They stuck to their bread and butter and ran it right down the field to score, starting the drive with 4 minutes and change to go... and overcoming a 2nd and 17 without throwing a pass. Barry Switzer has to be smiling.

Loved the call to go for two. That Penny kid for SDSU is a heck of a player, too.

Very reminiscent of OU's bowl loss to Boise a decade ago. BSU knew they couldn't stop Adrian Peterson in OT so they had to go for two with the trick play. Similarly, Army's Jeff Monken knew his defense had no clue to stop Penny so he had to roll the dice with a two point play.

As an historical footnote, this is only Army's seventh (as in ever) bowl game. We've lost two of them--by one to Alabama and by three to Auburn when we missed a 40 yard field goal as time expired. Bottom line is the Cadets rarely go to bowls but play fairly well when they do.

I could have gone the rest of my days without being reminded of that bowl loss. If ever we needed the King in the booth running our D it was that night. (I've mentioned before how we used the same play 25+ years earlier many times)

That game bothered me too, not only for the loss itself and the way OU lost, but the way some "journalist" declared it as being "the greatest upset in bowl history".
OU lost to a Boise State team that was unbeaten, a team that sent 10 players to the NFL.
OU was without Malcolm Kelly, a 1,000 yard receiver and one of the best ever at OU.
Paul Thompson was OU's QB and while he had some good moments in his career, he was not in the same league as Heupel, Bradford, White or Mayfield.....and he replaced Bomar (who might have been one of OU's greatest quarterbacks) before the season. Thompson is, however, one of my favorite Sooners for the way he carried himself on and off the field.
OU had lost to Oregon due to several officiating crew meltdowns and lost decisively to Texas 28-10, and barely escaped with a 17-16 win over ATM. Clearly this was not one of OU's greatest teams.....not by a long shot.
OU rallied from a 28-10 deficit in the third quarter, but too much damage had already been done to doom the Sooners.
While OU was a 7-1/2 point favorite to win, then yes, it WAS an upset...........but not at all "the greatest upset in bowl history".

The first bowl game I watched in its entirety yesterday was worth the watch. Fresno State and Houston are two good teams that challenged each other all game.

It was a fine closing act for the pre-Christmas bowl season. I think the Big 12 could have a good bowl season, and that answer should be coming soon.

Paul Thompson was never utilized for his greatest strength. SPEED. He was the fastest Sooner of his day, yet didn't get to show it off very often... He could have been OU's Vince Young without all the off field drama...

Speed is not necessarily an ingredient for being a great quarterback, but maybe if Thompson had not had Jason White on the roster his first 3 years (2002-2004) and then Bomar (2005), he could have been a more well rounded QB.
His speed trumped White's and Bomar's....but he could not win a starting role while they were around.
