Nice jump in AP but coaches poll OU landed at 7. Ironically Texas dropped to 11th one spot below Bama who they beat. Louisville jumped 10 spots for beating ND. Yep the coaches poll is full of agendas more than the AP. Would love to hear the explanation of those coaches who put Bama ahead of Texas. Or should I say coaches aids who cast the vote for them

In the end they don’t mean squat

The Golden Hat is Crimson again
I knew something was up when I got home and my wife was screaming with what sounded like fits of joy.
Anyway, I'm glad my predictions were wrong. I was worried a bit with their D-Line but impressed how our OLine stepped up.

Win out and the garbage in front of us will flop as usual in November. Big 12 really is a hapless joke. Barring weird weather or injuries, we should march right through the remainder of schedule.

Now don't hate on me but OU has three pretty difficult road games remaining. Kansas is not the Kansas of a few years ago. OSU looked better against K-State, and going to Provo in mid-November could be a snowy trap. The Sooners need to bring their A-game every weekend period (and I hope they will!).

That's going to depend if Daniels is healthy.

We will have to go 1-0 every week, including December 2. I secured my ticket yesterday. They tack on over $100 as a fee for every seat.

Seat Geek.

Your last statement "In the end they don't mean squat" is correct, and why people shouldn't get so worked up over them on message boards, and talking to co-workers, etc.

The only rankings that matter are the College Football Playoff Committee top 25, which will be released every week, beginning on October 31 thru the end of the regular season. They will determine the four teams that get into the playoff, as well as filling all of the other New Year's Six bowl slots.

I think fan is short for fanatical. What's the enjoyment of being a sports fan if you're not going to partake in speculation and boasting however much it may be moot?

You should watch Friends re-runs until mid January and then go look at the polls, because nothing matters into then.

Just keep winning, the redt will take care of itself. A lot of Football left to be played and a lot of things can and will happen before Seasons end. Hopefully the team stays hungry and focused after the big win Sat.

No, I watch on average about a dozen college football game per week. The games matter. The opinion polls from sports writers and coaches don't matter.

Your having watched the games will not affect the polls.

Exactly. My watching the games will not affect the polls. The sports writers and coaches polls are irrelevant, and I don't pay attention to them. For some reason, they do seem to agitate a lot of people though. A lot of wasted time, energy, arguments and frustration.

Well I guess we have no choice but to rely on the "election committee". A committee of non football "experts". 🤣

You know what else is wasted time? Message boards, but you sure do like to hang out on them.

I spent 99% of the first half standing alone in living room, yelling clapping etc as if I was at the stadium

Maybe, maybe not. I personally like sittin on the edge of my seat when it comes to SOONER FOOTBALL! Been doin it my whole life my man.
As have I..........I just dont want to get too excited about a poll right now. We have all been let down how many times over the years? Whatever the case, I would say this season has already been a big success after last years fiasco. I'm really happy not only for OU but for BV. Seems like a great guy and he has put his heart and soul into being a successful head coach.

I respectfully disagree that message boards are wasted time. There is quite a bit of useful information to be gleaned from message boards regarding injury updates and recruiting news, and occasionally someone makes an informative post with supporting information to back it up.

So, in conclusion, I don't think that message boards are a waste of time. Based on your statement, you think they are. Which begs the question, why do you engage in something that you think is a waste of time?

Just slow it down a bit fellas. texas may not be all that and a bag of dung. Its one win halfway through a long season. Tap the brakes a bit and lets see how it plays out. Things are better this season no doubt but that running game has to get going, kicking and special teams as well before we can toot our own horn. This team keeps getting better and better and I hope that trend continues. Complacency is my biggest concern right now. The job is not finished by a long shot. Gonna sit back and enjoy this ride wherever it takes us.

I would generally agree but I think KU, BYU and maybe WV will be real challenges.

They don’t matter in the grand scheme of things for sure. However they do generate some good interactions between fans. They also have an impact for recruiting to some degree.

I want all human decision making eliminated because the so called 13 member selection process isn’t without some bias.

I never complained about wasted time. I actively seek out ways to waste time. I enjoy this form of wasting time, and what makes it enjoyable to me is reading the speculation, excitement, and even disappointment of others, so I welcome all discussions, even those about worthless polls.

The polls right now do not mean anything, I agree, but I do like seeing the Sooners climb the rankings. Tells me people outside of Soonernation are paying attention and noticing the improvement. Plus seeing OU ahead of Texas is always a joy, love listening to my Texas friends say rankings dont matter right now, but after the Bama win all they could talk about is how they beat the #3 team and should be a top 4 team themselves. Lots of football to be played, and lots of good teams still ahead of OU in the so-called rankings.

I don't expect complacency to be in BV dna!
