Lucked into tickets for the weekend... went tonight and will go again Saturday night.

Great atmosphere, I felt like the husker crowd could have been louder at times, but we weren’t doing much for the first 90 minutes, so it’s hard to blame them. If you weren’t a husker fan, you were rooting for Illinois. People are tired of seeing Nebraska all the time. The People behind us in the stands made their bias known all match, even though they weren’t Illinois fans. Tonight they were.

It was great to hear their jubilation turn to concern, then be dumbfounded when we were looking at match point.

Great job, ladies!!!

I’m a Chiefs fan, but Rivers is the QB on my fantasy football team. #conflicted

Mahomes made me a believer despite the loss. I've been a weak Green Bay fan continuing from Ahman Green forward.

Mahomes, may be the next great quarterback, but for the love of God, a professional defense that blows coverages?

Fire the whole defensive staff. It's not college. I want to be a bandwagon fan.

KCs defense held LA to their season scoring average which is a win for them. KCs offense scored a full TD less than their average.

KCs offense underperformed in this game which is why they lost.

I think Illinois had the big advantage with their coach knowing how Nebraska plays very well. This match came down to who was more mentally tough. Being down 2 sets to start off is hard enough to come back from. But when you are completely taken to school the 2nd set, that would completely deflate most teams and the 3rd set would be over before it started. How these girls stayed the course and finished it out like they did is award worthy. Comeback performance of the year.

In my opinion, losing those 2 sets could set the foundation for a win Saturday night. Figuring they had won their last 22 straight sets can give you false confidence. Kind of like NCAA basketball teams that go undefeated all year only to lose in the first or second round of the big dance. Get those losses out of the way and remember what its like to face adversity.

Excellent job ladies. GO BIG RED

You're right about the foundation, but I think the 1st blocks (ha, ha) were laid earlier in the tournament with a couple of late comebacks.

Rivers was owning the Huskers middle blockers the whole match, but the Chargers D had no answer for Foecke. Nebraska came up big in the 4th quarter which is good, because the Chiefs held serve most of the 1st half. But wow, Illinois' QB is something else!

And our closer struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th.

The microphones for TV really muted the crowd noise. But that's what I thought too. It wasn't until the 5th set that you really heard much GBR

And if they were the type of irritating fans that were sort of screaming in your ear...I hope you turned around and clapped and smiled right at them when we won. Those are some great moments when you can do that.

My father-in-law has literally told me the story 10,000 times about sitting next to Gator fans at the '95 Fiesta Bowl. Before the game they were doing the "Gator Bait!" thing in his face, then he spent most of the first half yelling "no teeth!" at them. They left shortly after half. Karma.

The interesting thing was, they were coaches and players from Utah University. They knew what they were talking about much of the time. Very complimentary of Foecke, begrudgingly. But the talk was about the hellhole prairie wasteland (actual words) that Nebraska is, that fans in Nebraska have nothing else and they travel because of that, all the tired stuff people always say.

And the rest of their talk was about White Castle and weather and so much drivel, and they were loud about it. It was great to hear them whine when Nebraska came back. I’m pretty non-confrontational (except on this board at times), so I didn’t say anything after the game. Besides, they left in a hurry. :)

I can remember at the Fiesta Bowl going into the restroom at halftime, and being jubilant with other Husker fans, and one Gator fan says "Remember what we did to Tennessee?" (I believe it was Tennessee that was way ahead of Florida in an earlier game that year, and Florida came back and outscored them big time in the 2nd half and won going away). I remember responding with "Yeah, but you're not going up against an SEC defense tonight, my friend."

There were a few jackass Florida fans in Tempe, but not too unruly. I remember we would start doing the Gator chomp when Florida fans started but doing it, but would instead make quacking duck sounds while doing it. They weren't too fond of our antics. :D

$400 tickets I got for $70 apiece. For the entire weekend. Can’t complain there... my brother in law is in education and has all kinds of connections, and was able to find these tickets through a colleague.

And while I may look like Santa, I don’t dress like him.

Well, except for the red... I do wear red.

Not even a "If you guys are trying to irritate us, you're doing a really pathetic job at it. We have players on this team that have won 2 National Titles and have been to 4 straight Final 4s. And this year we have 8 freshmen on the team. This smile on my face is because we're the best in the business of college volleyball right now. Your childish BS isn't going to change that either."

The other thing they said that was moronic was how obnoxious husker fans were. No one was bothering them, someone several rows back would yell GBR every now and then, but that’s it. Cheered for good points, great spikes or digs, etc. normal stuff. When Illinois served, fans and band were quiet.

Illinois, on the other hand, every single serve the huskers hit, the Illini band was yelling and screaming. I noticed that about Oregon as well last week. When we would serve, Oregon reserve volleyball players would yell just as our player would toss the ball up to serve.

The ladies can handle it just fine, but I don’t remember this behavior during volleyball matches. Haven’t been to a game in years, but this was new to me.

You can’t police fans. But you can police your own team or your band. Is this common all over the country?

Just stuck in my craw...

It's probably no stretch that most volleyball players from other programs are used to playing in tomb-like silence.

The phrase "Act like you've been there" is clanking around in my noggin right now. Ah, but have either Oregon or Illinois ever really been there in volleyball?

Does Utah have a ton of things to do? Mountains and that's bout it. Used to live not too far from St George and that place sucked.
