As much as it stinks tnt have destroyed Iowa (don’t yell at me it’s Christmas) Iowa city/Coralville really is a great place to have men’s and women’s wrestling events.

6 individuals have won national titles in the last 15 years. There have been several years where no individual title won. Plus I love routinely getting 3rd-5th and watching guy after guy get destroyed by the philosophy of this program.

but yeah we couldn’t do any better than TNT.

I think there is a difference between "couldn't do any better" and "destroyed the program". KJ pretty much destroyed the program at ISU if you wonder what that looks like. TNT have kept a very strong program every year. It is ok to question if they are the right guys going forward, but it is dishonest to pretend they have destroyed anything.

Yeah, it’s all relative. To me, using an extreme term like destroy I am referring to the greatest dynasty in college athletics that no longer exists. And that’s on them IMO due to what they have done/not done.

No. You guys don’t get it. Pay attention to the sport and how things are done. The Brands absolutely cannot be defended anymore… 10 years too late..

Iowa, Penn State, Ohio State, and NC State - no billionaire that I am aware of who gives directly or indirectly to wrestling.

Doesn't seem to be a direct positive correlation between having a billionaire wrestling donor and national championships.

Just like it, except does every little town in Oregon have a track team?
In Iowa, we got little schools like Don Bosco and Alburnett who field good wrestling teams.

I love this two extreme theories world! !. Brands sucks and nothing will help. 2. Cael cheats and only wins because they pay wrestlers. Equally stupid. PSU has really increased the gap the past 2 years. Why are they suddenly jumping way further ahead now that everyone can pay wrestlers? Anybody with a working brain would realize that everybody suddenly paying wrestlers would cut into the advantage not increase it. PSU has many advantages but the best coaching staff is the biggest cog.

All of the little schools in Iowa have track, so I'm guessing Oregon does too. The thing that makes Iowa special is the amount of passion for the sport. I have not seen all of the state tournaments, but have heard the Iowa State Tournament is the best.

You might want to check on who actually took over from Gable. Could they do better - of course. Destroyed - that's just plain nonsense.

Ah good point I’m glad you brought that up. I wonder how the older fans feel about Brands vs Zalesky. Why do we keep the tnt bros up on a pedestal but 20 years ago it was public kick Jimmy to the curb for performing the same way. And yes, it is the same.

When this regime begins to struggle to be in the top 10 and the majority of the top wrestlers from Iowa leave to go to another state, I'll be on the same page with it being labeled the destruction of the program.
