You are probably asking yourself why I have annoyed you with all those NCAA Tournament trivia questions for the past few weeks. It was a bit of guerilla marketing. Now you can answer all of those questions and more.

I have teamed up with someone who goes by the well-earned moniker of Wrestling.Guru and an Intermat poster called grogs84 to provide a unique source of wrestling data.

Some is raw data. How about all 39,000+ NCAA tournament matches in a single, searchable data base? You like that? What if we added in all of the individual and team scoring? Pretty good, right. Well what if we did it two ways: same as in the day and normalized using today's ruleset? I know. Pretty cool.

And what if the Guru went to the trouble of aggregating everyone's tournament records by year and then included their hometown, high school, and HS graduation year? I bet you would like that.

And then what if some know-it-all wannabe started messing with the data? Maybe something interesting would come from that, right? No? OK, whatever, suit yourself.

Maybe go check it out anyway.

And if you have any burning questions about NCAA data or need to settle a bar bet, shoot me an email at [email protected] and we will see what we can do.

OMFG, nominating @Wrestleknownothing as poster of the flipping century! This is a massive achievement guy! Thank you!

Hear, hear!

BTW @Wrestleknownothing, I think I've said this before but if not, I love your writing style. You have a gift!

And as for your handle, I see your play on words there. At a quick glance it looks like "know nothing" but it's actually "known o'thing." As Gary Gulman clearly explains below, the o' contraction stands for "of the." So, properly deconstructed, your handle effectively means "what is known of the thing called wrestling."

And with that irrefutable display of powerful logic 🙄, I invite my board mates to grab a free New Year's Eve chuckle by listening to the hilarious clip below.

My wife was skeptical when I call her over to watch this. And then she LOVED it. Thanks for sharing.

What a coincidence! I woke up this morning trying to remember who won the Consi 4 #2 match at 175 lbs. at the 1928 tournament. I couldn't remember if it was Floyd Helgerson of Ohio State or Art Ruggles of Iowa State. I can't believe I had forgotten that Helgerson won since that match was where my dislike for Ohio State started in earnest.

I know of a guy from Shaler, PA who went by Guru and was heavy into rankings and other details on Bruce Closson's Wrestling Report in the 90s/early 2000s. Not the same guy?

Nah. Was still running around grade school in the 90s.
