everything is relative, in terms of how competitive teams are.

PSU has established themselves as the clear #1 team this season.

tOSU has pretty much established themselves as the #2 team this season, though a couple of their starters have been out of late, and Oklahoma St. has changed their roster and may be in the running for #2 at Nationals.

In college, there are 10 matches in a dual. tOSU will be the outright favorites at 2 of them. PSU will be the outright favorite at 5 weight classes. 1 weight class would be a toss-up, with tOSU the slight favorite, but that tOSU starter has been out of late, so if he's still out on Friday, then PSU will be the clear favorite (thus at 6 weight classes). At the other two weight classes, it's pretty close. The PSU wrestlers are ranked #1, and the tOSU wrestlers are ranked #2, at both weights. (Going by Intermat rankings, which are the rankings most often used as the definitive ranking.) So PSU would be a slight favorite in both of those matches.

tOSU would need almost everything to go right for them to upset PSU in the dual this coming week. PSU could drop a few of the matches where they are the slight favorite, and still beat tOSU in the dual.

At Nationals, PSU will be the favorite, and should win, but predictions are a lot harder for Nationals, as it's about matchups, health, and several other factors.

I hope that helps.

The Wrestling Room board on this site talks PSU wrestling 24x7x365. Spend some time over there, and you'll pick up a lot of information about PSU wrestling.

OSU will make it competitive. They COULD even win, though it would only happen if they stay close or get an upset in the higher weight classes and win the ones they are favored in.

I would guess it’s a 20-12 type victory for PSU, maybe even more if they can start at 165 where the big dawgs can get a big lead.

T™️osu athletic supporters on eleven worriers must be sky-high confident after beating iowa.

Regardless, OSU will be the first team to actually try to wrestle PSU instead of just trying to keep it to a respectable score.

At first I thought the match was in Youngstown as there is a Covelli Center there at YSU. I forgot the Covelli’s also donated money for the one on the OSU campus. Covelli’s were my parents friends but were not as wealthy then (back in the 70s) as they are now as they have built up their business empire over the years.

What is their business
They used to own 45+ McDonalds in NE Ohio and NW PA including Erie. They used to buy their food by the trainload from approved suppliers and warehouse it. Then McDonald’s told them they had to buy from McDonalds only with no exceptions, so they sold all their franchises.

They approached Panera Bread and became a major operator having the Tampa market and a large portion of the Ohio market including the Columbus area. The company is worth over $250 million.
