Beating Duke, Beating Gonzaga, Loved beating UL, UT in Knoxville...listening to Pope after the games win or lose. Watching players grow, pulling together a team in a short timespan and being competitive. Seeing how the players have each other's backs and are playing to win for KY, not looking for ESPN highlights to forward their careers.

Watching a team of players and a coach who have the #1 goal of trying to win. It's inspiring as a fan and generates a ton more interest in the team for me personally vs watching a group and a coach just going through the motions with one (or both eyes) on the NBA.

And a bonus, seeing basically every other actual candidate for the job including our previous coach doing far, far worse than us.

The only thing that wasn't a positive was the injuries. That, and pope's "C-A-T-S" video when he announced his hiring. He won't ever be able to fully get rid of that one lolol.

I will list a few positives for me.
  1. Not being called a Basketball Bennie and talked down to by the coach
  2. Not hearing about kids not being robots
  3. Not hearing a coach say he hasn't seen the players when they are injured
  4. Not hearing a coach say he wants to get home to his dogs after another disappointing loss
  5. Not hearing a coach say we are built for March only to lose in March too
  6. Not losing to multiple crappy mid major teams in Rupp....in the same season
  7. Seeing an actual out of bounds play ran in a game
  8. Having fun watching UK again.
  9. Having what I feel is realistic hope that things are going to get better

I’ve enjoyed this season more than the previous 4 or 5 combined, regardless of the outcome. From the initial pep rally to the wins over Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, and Tennessee. I’ve enjoyed watching the team fight for wins despite repeatedly being short handed due to injuries, in what has been the toughest conference slate in college basketball history.

all of these and see Butler torch lil Bro' , the Duke comeback. Just pure will power and " want to" on display after years of " whatever" ball. I liked seeing Jax grow , he was coming on . I think he was discovering how to play high level D1 ball better .

I'll add one...

I love watching the 5 out sets where we cut hard to get easier buckets to generate offense. Before, seemed like we usually had to score in iso sets, shooting over defense, out athleting defense...but seldom generated easy offense vs. good teams.

There's so many great ones listed here but so many more we could add :

1 ) *maybe* the best is yet to come ?
2) Beating Bucknell ( first program to win 2,400 times ... another record for "the list")
2a) Still ahead of KANSAS ... hahaha
3) Seeing Pope win his first win as Kentucky Head Coach
4) Beating dUKe
5) Comeback out west against the Zags
6) BOTH wins against Tennessee (especially THIS YEAR)
7) I thought the Florida game was the best college basketball game I've seen this year. WE WON THAT WOW whatta game !
8) After the win @ the HUMP, Coach Pope going into the stands to share a moment with a wheelchair bound member of BBN ....
9) Butler torching UofL will go down in history for a very long time ! L's down (cue shrek's "L's" down picture ....
10) Otega Oweh serving up the Sooners in Norman
11) Jaxson's 22 that lifted us over a very tough Texas A& M team this year
12 ) Having Coach Pope bring his style and offense as opposed to the look we had before this year.....
13) Mark Sears and company for providing comic relief from flopping on the court (isn't that a positive?) ??
14) SEC officiating at it's very best ! (pun [?] intended)

ok, so maybe that last one falls into the "definitely not a positive" experience from this year .... *snickers*

In self defense, this is my 50th year following and living and dying with our cats. So cut me some slack leaving everything else off. I'm relying on everyone else to keep this thread going

...... thru April .... 😉

end runt's rant #3,706 .............
