First question of debate and both Trump and Carson want lower wages for Americans? I thought the American dream is a better life which includes increased income.

Wow, obvious troll is obvious. For your benefit at least I hope that is what you were doing. If that's really what you took away from that exchange then your preconditioned bias is bordering on something that needs medicinal treatment. Or you need to stop smoking crack, that ****'ll kill ya son.

The question was about an increase in the minimum wage to $15/ hr. Both said, accurately, it would not help. Many would lose their jobs to offset the increase in wages. Or be replaced by automation and more would lose their jobs. How can you be that stupid to not see it? That would be the direct result of a $15/hr min wage hike. It's an arbitrary number pulled out of the hat. Why not raise it to $20/hr? The stupidity of some when it comes to meeting a payroll is amazing. Don't forget about the matching taxes that business pays on top of the salary.

I thought I heard Trump suggest $50/hr. He went on to tell us of the impact it would have on the economy and employment. He reminded us that we cannot compete with imports at the current wage rates. Increase to $15/hr would exacerbate that problem. And of course someone reminded that even at the suggested $15/hr, we still could not compete with current government welfare. Some of the current welfare recipients could not stand the cut in disposable income by going to work for $15.

Didn't watch the debate, but I'm sure that the Chamber of Crony Capitalism wants lower wages, and they pull the strings of many Republicans...

Well, since you didn't watch the debate, by all means feel free to wade right in and give us your "informed" opinion, oh look at that, you already did. Bru said he watched the debate, but he must have been on the Spanish version with English subtitles.

I have never paid min wage to anybody but I have never hired a teenager to get experience in my dental office. If you are working for min wage and trying to raise a family, you are a loser. If you start in any business and work long enough and do a half way decent job, you make more than min wage. If you have a hard time keeping your pants up around your waist, can't count or speak English when it's your primary language you aren't worth much more than 7/hr. There's a reason why kids should stay in school and try to learn.

I did watch that part and my comment is 100% accurate of what they said. Get the transcript and post it if you would like. I'm too busy to and don't really care about the usual suspects like yourself and THE making excuses and denying. It is expected.

At no point did they say they wanted lower wages for workers. You are lying.

Some of the current welfare recipients could not stand the cut in disposable income by going to work for $15.

Many people opposed to raising the minimum wage also make disparaging comments about those on government assistance. So, you hate people being on welfare, but you also don't want to pay wages that would make it beneficial to not be on welfare. You want people to get an education or training to better themselves, but you don't want to pay them enough to be able to do that.

So, you want to abolish Welfare altogether, but then also keep minimum wage WELL below a living wage ... and then you wonder why there's so much crime and why so many lose hope .... yeah, it's a f'n mystery.

You are hopelessly out of touch.

People working minimum wage and trying to raise a family are not losers, they are doing everything they can to NOT be a leech on society and to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. You have no idea what circumstances lead them to be working that job and trying to raise a family.

The next time you're in Lowes or HomeDepot or just about anyplace else, instead of looking down your nose at those people, why don't you talk to them and ask them what they did before they started working there.

Any good? Thinking about taking my girls to go see it.

Really good. A close friend of mine is an Exec at Fox and was responsible for convincing the Schulz family to allow Fox to make the movie. They were opposed to the idea for decades but finally agreed to a deal.

They handled the animation perfectly, and didn't try any stupid live action stunts. The story was simple and basic and drew on elements from past holiday specials and themes.

Pal, you certainly do keep your imagination running while reading. No where in hell did I remotely suggest that I hate people on welfare. I paid union scale. That was the agreement to get them to work. Most, if not all, were worth that and more - so I gave them more to keep them from going some place else. Can you really comprehend that without attempting to read something into it?

I have zero problem with suggesting people invest in themselves to become a more valued participant in the workforce. It is not my responsibility to pay people to invest in themselves. Everyone has personal responsibilities and choices to make. It is a cafeteria plan and everybody is entitled to enough respect to allow personal decisions. I learned a long time ago that I do not have the capacity to tell people what their wants and needs are. Will not start now to make an *** of myself when I butt into someone else's life. Family is a totally different matter.

Failed to read your last comment - thank goodness. But I will address what I think you said. Do you approve of people committing crimes against their fellow man just because they are not making enough money to satisfy their wants? Really, that is not my problem. People who commit crimes normally get caught before they cease acting criminally. That is in the realm of the legal system. Obviously we are in disagreement on the issue. I think everyone has the responsibility to make personal choices. I t looks like you don't want to hold criminals responsible for committing illegal acts. You find that to be society's shortcoming.

First, I bet those people working a Lowes or Home depot that have been there for more than a year are making more than Min wage. Again, min wage is entry level. If you stay you make more and that's the way it should be. My wages start at 10/hr for no skill and go up each month. I will say it again, if all you can make is min wage something is wrong with you. One way or the other. Min wage is for teenagers.

Technically, my paraphrasing is most likely incorrect as I heard it and then paraphrased the comment. I believe the actual words were more in line with "need to bring the wages lower in order to compete".

So, try and defend the words he used by pulling a transcript. Or continue attempting to deflect the point by making claims I lied. It doesn't matter to me.

Guess you and THE and some other fool were too incapable to watch or google the transcrpt before making making excuses and calling people a liar. Typical

Trumps comment:
But, taxes too high, wages too high, we’re not going to be able to compete against the world. I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is. People have to go out, they have to work really hard and have to get into that upper stratum. But we can not do this if we are going to compete with the rest of the world. We just can’t do it.

Carson's comment:
It’s particularly a problem in the black community. Only 19.8 percent of black teenagers have a job, who are looking for one. You know, that — and that’s because of those high wages. If you lower those wages, that comes down.

I don't see the word "want" in either one of their responses. You make it sound like they are evil geniuses trying to get their 1 million dollars. However, they're being very factual about the world around us, how technology has driven us to a world economy, and how technology replaces a lot of lower end, read minimum wage, jobs.

Now since you have no comprehension skills and are blind to everything outside of a liberal temperament, I will excuse your behavior this time.

Wrong. You are still attempting to deflect. Please support their comments in terms of lowering wages is a solution of some type. If you can't, I understand as it is an indefensible position.

LOL you're a moron. Now you're moving the goalposts, but I see that helps your position in getting caught. Tell you what, you tell me how they're wrong, and then I'll respond when i feel like it.

Get off your high horse. Everyone can recognize a cowardly blowhard.

If you want to defend their position, knock yourself out trying. Unitil then, quit deflecting. Discuss their point or don't. I don't care. I made it clear my opinion is pure shock over their comments. I don't care at all if you agree or disagree with me and more importantly, I am not attempting to sway your belief's at all. They are too warped and demented to begin with.

Is the air up there cleaner? Anything ever fly up your nose with it pointed in the air like that? I just don't get it.

Bru calling someone else a blowhard without following it up with a heartfelt embrace of kinship is a bit like a mule calling a burrow a jackass.

Another ignoring the point of the thread even when I did all the work (and it was tough to use google) to post the transcript and all the guy can do is make another attack on me. Keep it up. Same for you; everyone can recognize a cowardly deflection. Only thing you have in your arsenal.

hmmmmmmm......watching news analysis shows on the debate this evening and wonder how they are interpreting these comments? Hint.......it isn't cowardly like three individuals that have posted on this thread doing nothing but calling me a liar on the subject.

Oh yeah buddy. I'm the king of deflection, I never answer direct questions with direct answers. In high school they voted me most likely to deflect from a question. My nickname was the deflection kid.

So, I'm confused. What is the truth in the eyes of the GOP? Has the middle class and poor been held down for years especially due to Obama's policies or are they making too much and need to make less as Trump is now claiming? I can't keep straight which rhetoric is the most recent. Help out us dummies that do not understand economics.

I agree. You are confused.

Why do manufacturing jobs leave for Mexico and asia? Why do people hire undocumented workers as laborers?

I want to know what you think is wrong with it, before I try to defend it. It's very factual, whereas you injected emotion into it with the word "want". You can't make a proper decision on most issues with emotion. Since what I'm asking you for requires reason and logic, I'm pretty sure I'll be waiting a while.

Here's a fact, you are worth whatreplaced e worth. If you are a drop out and pretty illiterate, you're not worth $7.25/ hr. I have never paid min wage to anybody but I have never hired a teenager to get experience in my dental office. If you are working for min wage and trying to raise a family, you are a loser. Some kids stay in school, bust their asses for their entire careers, then get replaced by an H-1b, for half the price. Then, that person has to train his or her replacement, with a smile, or they don't get severance. Mylan, Disney, Southern California Edison, Harley Davidson.... The list goes on and on. The "shortage" of STEM labor is one of the biggest hoaxes ever...
