WTF with Mosquitos

this year? I rarely have them bother me, but man...this past couple weeks has been like living in the Congo or something. If ever there were a time for bringing back DDT, this is it. What gives? All the rain? The heat? The combo? What do you all do to fight them?

I can't locate any standing water anywhere near my deck or anything, but its unbearable in the evenings...which I hate, as I have kids and don't like being in the house with them.

I laughed at mosquitoes down here after I spent a few months in the UP of Michigan. It's like comparing an M80 to an MX warhead.

Yesterday my neighbor had a company called Mosquito Squad come out to spray their house and yard.

Which got me thinking.....in almost five years of living here Ive never seen a mosquito.

So either they are throwing money down the toilet, or Ive been the unknowing beneficiary of their efforts :sunglasses:

Depending on where you live - you may be near a location where a large qty of genetically modified mosquitoes are being released

This probably WOULD make it seem like there are more than you're used to seeing I suppose

It's been an extremely wet and muggy August for most of the Northeast. Awful for insects of all kinds, certainly the skeeters.

One of the best ways I've found to combat them: use a fan. Mosquitos are very delicate compared to many other flying insects and they have a hard time landing due to the fan gusts. Not only that, the fan will disperse a humans "scent" (pheromones? IDK) making it hard for the skeeters to track.

Works very well. Much better than a citronella candle.
