I was encouraged. It wasn't Ohio State, but I saw better ball-handling and the aggression and energy did not fade away when the lead got so wide. WVU didn't play down to its competition. My alma mater has 2 more games to polish and smooth out the wrinkles, with The Great Ironer on their back, before the awesome Buckeyes show up in Cleveland. I've had my tickets for weeks. I can't wait. Beating Ohio State in December will be a lot tougher than beating the Buckeyes in March Madness, though, if this young but talented team stays the course and listens to their legendary coach. I thought it was a nice, caring touch during Huggins' post-game on-court interview when one of the tall dudes singing "Country Roads" gently in the line of players shoulder to shoulder with their arms around each other, swaying to the tune, put one errant end of Huggins' towel around his coach's neck with a smile. It was a telling sign of what his players think of Huggins, the Bear with a snarl and a soft heart for his guys.
