I don't feel like WVU fans are giving this the reaction it should have.

This is a massive transfer. He didn't leave BGSU because he got beat out for a job. He was the sure thing starter. A productive starter. On a bad team, yes. But he did keep them respectable against good teams.

At worst, he's a solid starter. But QB's tend to take significant leaps from their first 2 years to their next 2 years, and he's already good. He should only get better with a much better supporting cast.

He's better than Clint was when he transferred. He's better than Jack was when he transferred. He's better than Skyler was when he transferred (I know JUCO). And lastly, he's better than Kendall was when he transferred.

Will was prime time. You could see that he was a special college QB at Florida based on the comebacks and the big throws.. but solely based on tape?

He's better than Will was when he transferred here.

I think if he transferred here with Austin in the winter, he'd have already won the QB battle. If Austin isn't great this year, next Spring should be interesting.

Jack is caput, though.

He's a good QB. But to know that, you have to do that crazy thing where you watch his games instead of posting the scores. BGSU is not a good team. Unless he was elite, which he isn't, there was no salvaging that team.

He was a sophomore.

He will transfer and sit out a year.
QBs on the sideline can be just as important as assistants because they can spot things.

Why do you think they usually have a headset on?
They aren't on the sideline looking for tail in the stands like some other positions would be.

It is called a QB room.
You are adding a QB that knows the game.
At the very least you are adding someone that can be said to be a GA

Arkansas did this with Ben Hicks from SMU. He sucks but he knows Chad Morris' offense.

Even if he doesn't play he can help WV

Right now the question is his eligibility. Is he eligible in 19 or 20. Once that is resolved the fans can worry about where he fits in now.

Sounds like Trey Lowe will get a position chance.
Doege will be the scout team QB. Who else has a scout team QB with 15+ starts.
Will be eligible in 2020.

Have to wonder: Is bringing in another QB about balancing classes in the room or an indictment of the guys on the roster and what the coaches saw from them in the spring?

MAC has always had a lot of very talented players. Look no further than the Steelers for example. Big Ben, James Harrison, Antonio Brown, etc. Hell, they used the 2nd pick of 3rd round this draft on Diontae Johnson who is WR from Toledo. Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington also had solid careers. Even more so with Chad Pennington. Who knows what type of career he could have had if he didn't get injured. Randy Moss came from the MAC, the greatest WR of all-time IMO. Of course, I am biased as he's from West Virginia. But I'd take him over Jerry Rice.

Speaking of transfers, how is the grad transfer from Wofford with the noodle arm doing in Huntington?
