I prefer to see the defense have that much experience rather than the offense because we know Dana can coach up the offense.

Until we can field an experienced group on offense and defense on the same field at the same time, I don't expect much. This goes back even to the Stew years. The years our defense is loaded for bear the offense is trying to get its feet under it with a bunch of new players at the skill position. And when those guys are ready on offense our defense lets the opponents run free for 40 a game. Stew started it with holding back on scholarships and Dana to this point has kept it going with Juco kids who are gone before the bath water gets cold. In Dana's defense he had to fill a lot of holes immediately. I'm not bashing him as much as just pointing out this cycle has to stop if we ever want to be a serious contender. I'm thinking over the next 2-3 years it will. Dana has redshirted a lot of guys that can help over that span.

Unfortunately, if the Offense doesn't start click well this year, then that puts our Defense on the field an awful lot......and even really good Defenses wear down when they are constantly marching back out onto the field because the Offense can't sustain drives. I'd love to see some really successful red zone production this year out of the Offense and could almost stomach another season of subpar Special Teams performance if the Offense could offset it a bit by punching it into the endzone more often........
