Rifle Sits at No. 1 in the CRCA Top 20 Poll
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 20, 2015) – The West Virginia University rifle team sits at No. 1 in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
Alaska-Fairbanks remains at No. 2 for the second straight week, with Kentucky, Murray State and TCU in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
After losing a match to Alaska-Fairbanks by a score of 4684-4711 on Oct. 18, Air Force drops three spots to No. 6. Ohio State (No. 7), Nebraska (No. 8), Memphis (No. 9) and N.C. State (No. 10) round out the top 10.
Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) foe N.C. State jumps seven spots from last week’s poll, after defeating Navy in a GARC conference matchup on Oct. 17, 4654-4620.
North Georgia enters this week’s poll at No. 19 for the first time this season.
Including West Virginia, all nine GARC rifle programs are ranked in this week’s poll. Kentucky is ranked at No. 3, followed by No. 8 Nebraska, No. 9 Memphis, No. 10 N.C. State, No. 11 Army, No. 13 Mississippi, No. 14 Navy and No. 16 Akron.
Following a two-week hiatus, West Virginia (2-0, 1-0) will shoot at No. 9 Memphis on Saturday, Oct. 31, before traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, for a match at No. 13 Mississippi on Sunday, Nov. 1. Both matches are slated to begin at 8 a.m. ET.
