I get the impression that he's cautiously optimistic. He knows he has a chance to have a great team but he'll need to get everyone moving in the right direction by the time the Big 12 schedule arrives.
That man is the most annoying man in sports. I'm convinced he's the reason for the mute button and an alternate IMG broadcast with Tony Caridi on a bad delayed broadcast sync radio.
That picture justifies why the basketball hall of fame is really messed up. Then again about every hall of fame has just some head scratching members and non members.

3x, you need to meet Vitale off mic when he doesn't have to be on as "Dickie V". He's a great guy.
Like him or not, he has drew a ton of interest from the casual fan. His time has passed though, I believe ESPN has removed him from their A list announcers last season.
He may be a great guy. He may be the greatest guy in sports off air. If so, thats great.
I just get a headache trying to listen to him, and for me, I only watch college basketball like 3-4 weeks a season. That persona & volume is just annoying to me.

There have been two in my lifetime that actually makes my *** pucker when they are on the air - Dickie V and Howard Cossell. Absolutely would rather turn the sound off. They went out of their way to be irritating.
Then there were those that thought they were the greatest thing since pop up toast. Hard to explain what stirs people's appetite. Howard would start a tale and laugh at himself knowing it was a lie that he was offering.
