One of the youngest teams in the country, 3rd year player just got kicked off the team, no point guard, most conference wins since 2005-2006, toughest SOS for Rutgers since 1995-1996, and the pitchforks are out.

Terrible ending to the season but it’s foolish to start panicking over it. Just like it was foolish to panic over Geo, Montez, Ron, Pikiell, and the rest of the team earlier this year. Get it out of your systems and get excited for Mulcahy/recruiting and next season.

I agree. But................. There was no excuse for us to lose to a undermanned Nebraska team with only eight players suiting up.

We came in over-confident and not prepared.

It’s fair to judge on wins and losses BECAUSE of how far ahead of schedule the coaching staff and players are. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe you were saying as recently as a couple weeks ago that this is a 5 year rebuild.

Everyone is pretty quick to forget 7-25 when we get a few losses.

they are not ahead of schedule..its the end of year 3. Year 4 there will be expectations on the program. Its a must 500 year. RECRUITING NEEDS TO GET BETTER PRONTO

Stop with the freshman and young BS! Freshman dominated teams make the tournament and make runs in the tournament ! There is a long history of it

and it is a 5 year rebuild but the sooner you win the easier it is, we dont have the parts to make the NCAA next year and then Gene is gone. Look at the rest of the Big 10,,,,its going to be tough to pass some of these programs...do we have more talent than PSU or Indy...no...what about Illinois who are about the same as us.

Maybe Hurley was right on the 7 year rebuild?

Sunday game in Indiana and Wednesday game in Chicago. Fly home in between. One of their brothers has life ruined and goes to jail in between.

You have a large sample size where clunkers like the last 2 were few. Put 2 and 2 together. I saw this a mile away. It was obvious to me watching the Indiana game we didn’t have the edge.

Last year after the other end of the spectrum in B1G T we couldn’t survive without Corey (despite a huge sample of ineffectiveness during season). We ended up doing fine

I said before.....view this game as 1/21 of the season.

We will be fine.

we are game 31 of year 3...the process part is over...its fair to judge on wins and losses and today started that

15-18 in 2017
15-19 in 2018
14-17 in 2019

Better than 7-25 in 2016!!!

The team got lots of experience, so looking forward to a step up next year!!!!!!!

Good post.

In a couple weeks I think a lot of folks will come back to earth and realize the future still looks bright, but next season is crucial to continue this upward trajectory overall under Pikiell.

Other team has 6 scholly players and 2 walk ons. Perfect excuse to fold but played with heart and a purpose.

Yes. As I said before the game. Their 3 players are pretty good. They also didn’t fly twice across country in a matter of days. They didn’t watch their brother go to jail and have his life ruined.

In year four its time to stop comparing our success to the past regimes, but rather the rest of the B1G. Looking ahead I hope Young is as advertised because expecting Mulcahy to succeed day one at this level is unrealistic.

I sensed some over-confidence multiple times this year. Why, I'm not sure. Dumb lob passes and lazy ball handling, sometimes this year they looked like they were trying to be the Harlem Globetrotters. They seem to play their best when they don't take anything for granted and play with a purpose. The coach needs to reel that in.

Why play the game then if not playing with heart? Learning experience. Nebraska had a player suspended and lost guys to injury. What's their excuse?

Huge difference people saying we didn’t play with heart and we played with a bunch of freshman who Up until the last 3 games certainly did not play like freshman

So does our coach suck?
Our players suck?

Not an issue at all?

Our coach does NOT suck.
Our players do NOT suck.

We should have protected the ball and won the game pretty easily. We did not. Having turnovers on 1/3 of your possessions is horrendous.

For most of the game we were shooting 60%(ended up 49%), out-rebounding them by 10 and we let them back in the game a couple of times because of the turnovers and we were a step too slow on defense. Our defense improved dramatically this year, but we still have a long way to go.....

Best of Luck,
Groz

So many massive, juvenile over-reactions in multiple threads it’s hard to determine where best to post.

Speaking of over-blown, if I hear about the 6 scholly players again I’ll throw-up. In a one game scenario, no issue for 20 year olds to get up and down the court. It will be a factor for them at 3:00 tomorrow, but for tonight no big deal.

Not sugarcoating a bad game, bad loss, bad way to finish, but the overwhelming negativity is mind-blowing.

Get some rest then get back in the gym for lots of hard work. Better days ahead, no doubt!

Its late in the season to use the freshman excuse. What about Kiss Carter and the out of control Mathis?

I get being emotional. That’s why 24 hour rule makes sense in real life. Good news is that the message board isn’t real life so no need for 24 hour rule.

Bac, you do not think Harper, Johnson, Mathis and McConnell are good enough recruits? I say they are all solid and Young and Mulcahy better

we need more

Carter is not the answer and I do not think Doucoure will be. Gene is gone after next year and injury prone. Kiss is a non entity

plus there is always a chance of a surprise transfer out...just a guess. it happens with all programs

If anything not late at all. Ever hear of freshman legs being tired? What about first Big Ten tourney? Never said Kiss was good until late in the season. Pretty sure everyone can agree with that

Look what this coach did at Stony Brook. Significant improvement this year by all measures. Stumbled in the end but next year watch out.
