Seems like this job would be a better fit for him than ours. Can’t blame him if he ends up there as he knows the job well. Of course Ray will be bashed for not locking him up already, but I’m not sure that was going to happen this fast with a coach like Miller anyway.

Next couple of days will be interesting. I would’ve been surprised and still will be surprised to land Miller, our first choice. At this point, I hope Tanner is wise enough to have at least reached out to Gregg Marshall. He’s, by far, the best fallback option. As much as I like Boynton, there is no way I’d pay his buyout to get him.

Gregg Marshall is not ever getting hired here there would be complete mutiny from the SJW crew if we even considered hiring him, and Boynton has a 9$ million buyout and his numbers at OK St are worse than Franks was here. at least Frank won at Kansas State before he was hired here. If we miss on Miller then it's either BJ McKie, Chattanooga coach, Murray State coach, or Richey. and No doubt the people still upset with Martin firing will try to sabotage the coach next coach whoever it is. our MBB program is dead, we are a WBB only school. We have to be the only school in the SEC that loses out on coaches to freaking Xavier but that's life.

Miller to Xavier is happening. Next up…My gut says it is eventually going to be Richey. May work out just fine if so. While I agree with the poster above that Marshall will never be hired here, I still believe Tanner should consider it. He’s the best coach available right now (ironically Martin is up there too). Can he over come the baggage??? We might be the only school that would give him a shot outside of Winthrop. But I don’t see it happening, because we haven’t gotten it right in some time. As far as Boynton goes, he inherited a mess early on. Theyve had some decent teams but probation really hurt him this season. He’s better than his records shows, but I wouldn’t pay $9M for him. But he’s on our list, so that’s why he’s mentioned. And I do like him. OSU fans still like him because they know what he’s really had to overcome there.

Our fans will blame Tanner that we didn’t get Miller. Honestly, had we agreed to terms and Xavier come calling, we might have lost him after a day or two. Hard to blame him for returning to a place where he’s already won. I doubt Miller would’ve stuck around had he won. And I would’ve loved to have a coach leave because he was successful rather than what we’ve had recently. But I definitely didn’t see Miller as they type of guy that would’ve been here a long time.

But Tanner now needs to move fast. Lock up the next guy now.
