If its Phil Hoskins, that would be even better, but I got the impression that he was going to take a little longer to decide and Reigelsperger was on the verge.... Either way would be great pickups....

Phil Hoskins, 6'5" 265 JUCO DE...nice pick up. Wonder if he's a Dec grad? So they'll go into '17 with Hoskins, Kengera Daniel, Alvonte Bell, TJ Carter and Calvin Taylor battling for PT. This is the hand on the ground DE, not the Jack LB(Ware, Allen, etc).

Imagine this shuts the door on James Hudson.

This guy looks perfect for the 3 4 end spot. With his offer list he's easily a 5.7 juco if not a 4 star.

Hoskins was always a take and isn't a replacement for Hudson. The staff has always wanted both of them

UK will never shut the door on Hudson.

He gone where?

He's a teenager, doesn't know where he is going himself yet, UK is still in the mix AND with a much improved season could definitely climb back to the top------we aren't some city college you know.

And I think the potential is there for a MUCH improved season.

Regardless, this is a great pickup and makes the loss much easier to take if it is a loss.

Once they turn their backs, they generally don't return.

I like this new pickup. I'm one who got all upset when the past recruiting class looked like it was imploding, but we actually came out ahead

Hudson is gone. But we will replace him just fine

I think the odds of Hudson recommitting to us are long indeed but it has happened with a player on our team currently so it is not out of the realm of possibility. I do think that Warren leaving will make the odds even longer and that OSU may be the biggest reason for the decommitment.

That's kinda where my head is.

It honestly didn't take long to get a good replacement. I'm not worried about talent pipeline at this point. Just need to execute as the existing talent gets their experience up. Recruiting will take care of itself

You are correct about Hudson. Debating whether Hoskins is a replacement for Hudson, as some are doing, boils down to semantics. Both are upgrades over every defensive lineman on our 2016 roster with the possible exception of Kengera Daniel. Hudson would be much more valuable to our team than Hoskins, because Hudson is an elite 4 year player. However, Hudson's perspective has changed with all the big new offers. We have lost Hudson and Warren. That doesn't mean 2017 won't be another great recruiting class. Jones, Richardson, Ajian are elite commitments and several other players in the class have huge upsides. I really like Koback and Dotson. There is a lot of time between now and February.

UK has a lot to sell now, all we have to do is start winning a few games. I can't wait to see what this crew can do in recruiting with a good season, what they have done with poor records has been pretty amazing, although I have always though UK is a great place to go overall, not just to play football. Too bad we fiddled for a decade instead of making hay.
