Says you.No. Screw Bama. "Conference pride" does nothing good for UK.

Though it would be difficult to ever conclusively prove, I think it's reasonable to assume that at least some of our recruits, particularly our recruits from non-SEC states like Ohio, are attracted to UK because it's in the SEC. I would further venture to say that this attraction is largely based on SEC prestige. Granted, the benefit of being in a conference with a lot of prestige also benefits the 13 other SEC teams as well as UK. But a third of our regular season schedule doesn't get that benefit even if the two-thirds of the schedule that is SEC opposition does.No. Screw Bama. "Conference pride" does nothing good for UK.
But pulling for an acc team does? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:No. Screw Bama. "Conference pride" does nothing good for UK.
Exactly....No. Screw Bama. "Conference pride" does nothing good for UK.
This is why I am not big on the conference support issue. While I'm not sure about if SEC fans cheer us on in football, it is definitely not reciprocated in basketball. In basketball, in my experience, rarely at tourney games do other fanbases cheer for us.I have always pulled for the SEC in bowl games, and definitely in the national championship games. However after the NCAA tourney last spring, my feelings have changed a good deal because I certainly didn't see it reciprocated much for us in the Final Four. Very few comments I read on Twitter or anywhere on line from SEC fans supported us. Quite the contrary.
It was really eye-opening for me regarding basketball support for us from our conference brothers.![]()

Probably so, but years ago, we didn't have all of the social media we have now. I guess I never paid that much attention to Twitter during the tourney before last season. That's been going on forever. It didnt start last spring. Other SEC fanbases have always rooted against UK basketball in the NCAA tournament.
