Is it me or does it look like Yant just isn’t suited for power short yardage runs. Seems he stumbles , looses balance , or just trips and falls toward the line when he needs to get a push into the line.

I get that Grant is the guy but what has Gabe done wrong that he isn't seeing more playing time? The guy impresses every time he plays.

I 100% agree Yant is no good in short yardage. Also, I hope Ervin is OK, I don’t think he played a snap yesterday.

everything says short yardage about him, except his balance

Yant would be better off as a 20 carry workhorse in a Wisconsin type offense. Doesn’t fit what we’re trying to do as well as others, and doesn’t get to the LOS fast enough to be a short yardage guy.

I think yant sucks. No burst, no moves, no speed, no vision. So that leaves us with..,he’s big. Had one career game against a bad team. But I trust the rb coach, he found Grant and the freshman. Best backs we’ve had since Rex and ahmeer. Must be a reason yant is number 2

Yant runs too upright

similar to Dan Alexander - except far less talented and much slower

Gabe reads well but he’s a step slow and not big enough to really muscle it. He’s a jack of all trades master of none when it comes to backs. He’s YPC is awful especially when you take out outliers

and when you have a bad O-line, you can’t rely on a guy to just read the play. You need someone to juke & speed it (Grant) or Muscle it (Yant)

Grant would be solid if he has holes. But that’s about all

Yant has 3.8 ypa (49 yds) this season while Ervin has 5.5 ypa (82 yds). Not a huge difference but Ervin is actually doing better this season than Yant. Ervin just looks more electric when he carries.

Yant, until this week, has just been the short yardage guy. YPC doesn't translate that well.

I hate the way Yant runs the ball. When he's going to get tackled he turns his back to the defender. Like he's afraid it's gonna hurt.

Agree. He is probably used more in short yardage situations. What I can't understand is why a RB with better stats has so few carries.

I’ll ask again, where is R. Johnson ? Forget that slot receiver stuff if we need another running back.
