Definitely not from the 50's. I have our fiberglass seats from the 70's in the garage, my garage flooring is also the original turf from Kinnick. there is a simple solution to not liking sitting like a sardine for 3.5 hours....... don't go.
LOL. I worked as part of the maintenance crew at Kinnick while a grad student back in the day. I think I know a little bit about the place.

BTW, smart asss, Hard Rock Stadium, 65,000-seat home of the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami and host to the CFP title game on Monday night seats over 65,000, and every damn seat is an individual seat. Some seats are recliners like some people have in their homes. (Not you, of course. You probably sit on a concrete floor.) No wood bleachers like Iowa's south end zone used to be. No fiberglass. No aluminum bleachers. But if you enjoy being treated like a farm animal on the way to the slaughterhouse in order to watch Iowa football, that's your choice. Enjoy. :ROFLMAO:

The sound system….fix the sound system….you go to nearly any other stadium around the conference and it’s night and day.

I actually had an Oregon fan ask me if it was broken or something, I rolled my eyes and said it’s been this bad FOR YEARS.

That would be #1 on my list. How can we actually express this?

Actually, they waved from Tampa, about 1,500 miles away, among other locations.
It would not be the same. Would hate to see Kinnick taken down. I maybe have 10 - 15 years left so after that I'll have the best seat in the house and they can do what they want.

I have a few honey holes for getting a beer and something to eat within a TV timeout. I will not be sharing this information with anyone.

Gee, I wonder if Hard Rock was designed that way? Certainly Kinnick has the same footprint as Hard Rock so throwing recliners and chairs in there should be easy enough while keeping capacity in the mid to high 60K range. They could do that easy.
As far as your time spent as a grad student at Kinnick, it didn’t help you be factually accurate in your post but you do you.
My apologies if offering a simple solution to your annoyance with the seating was taken as a smart a** response. Simply trying to ease your pain with the situation.

I'm not following... of course I'd rather have the team win every game but it has nothing to do with the aesthetics, comfortability, or game day experience for the fans. We all spend lots of money on tickets, I think we all just want to see the overall experience improve in addition to the team winning.

In a perfect world, I want my cake.
We might as well invent the teleportation device so we can fast travel to Iowa City whenever we want for games.

It's 2026 for Pete's sake!

- Fix the video boards before the season starts.
Are they broken?
- Fix the freaking sound system. It is so terrible.
Speaking to the general audience:

Could. Not..............Care. Less.

The people that give a sh** about videos and music and the PA announcer are just looking for excuses to be distracted..............and that's something I just can't get behind giving a single sh** about. 😃😃😃😃😃
- We have to find a way to make lines shorter.
Population reduction would go a long ways...............just sayin amirite or amirite.......or amirite? 😉
That's all I heard from away fans.

What else?
Fix the problem with the trophy case. More national championships. If we can't get right on that, then everything else is secondary.

Problem solved. You're all welcome.

Video board had patchy spots. Not like blacked out, but faded

Having sat in all 4 sections of the stadium recently, I think the north EZ is better line/amenity/butt and leg room. Pretty sure there’s more leg room and the seats are slightly wider. Also the bathroom and concession lines while not great seem to be better than other 3 sections. Probably less people per bathroom/concession since there’s two decks, not funneling all to the same concourse. Biggest complaint in north is you can hear almost nothing on the sound system that comes from the south ez. Kinnick’s pregame speech clip is just garbled noise for example.

I’m sure much of it is just due to the fact that it’s the only recently renovated section.
100% agree with this. I go to 2 or 3 home games a year and only but in the north end zone. So much more room. And it’s so loud there it adds to the game experience. And I also agree that the PA is horrible there especially in the upper deck. Down lower it’s a bit better.

I went to the USC game this year and that is an impressive stadium. The food options are so much better that it really isn’t even comparable. In fact I wondered how they could sell that many different types of food when the stadium was only 2/3 full at best. They had to have had a lot left over. And the bathrooms were massive and not even connected to the stadium. I was very impressed with the Coliseum.

@ThunderDome335 legit curious, what deck are you in. I'm paying extra per seat to sit around the 5 yardline.

We almost sat in the NW corner of the endzone.

Here's what I'm looking for:
-Not a ton of away fans. I sat by away fans every game two years ago in the endzone on the pressbox side. Pretty clear it was purchased by a scalper. Sucks.
- Not any total drunks. People are going to drink during a game but I would rather not be puked on.
- The sound system sucks everywhere but can you hear most of the stuff?

Upper deck, center underneath the scoreboard. It’s high up but I actually like that, you can see the whole field develop right in front of you. I also enjoy and embrace the north ez noise/intensity, it’s a real thing. To address your points in order:
1) There’s a few away fans here and there but overall, not many. Most of the section is season ticket holders, I think, which really helps.
2) We haven’t seen much for crazy/puke drunk, or fights breaking out. It’s loud and hostile in a good way, like all of kinnick, but haven’t seen much of the stuff that can ruin a game for you. You better be ok with plenty of intensity and noise though.
3) Yes you can hear most of it, you don’t miss out on much. On field interviews and in game stuff can be iffy but you hear most of it.

Yeah the guy ahead of me doesn't like my knees cracking the back of his head. I swear when I look down his head is between my knees 😩. Aisle only seat to stretch the legs.
Went to a game a few years back, 2:30 kick off and a strong day of tailgating. Midway thru the first quarter the guy I was with puked in the hood of the gals sweatshirt sitting directly in front of him and she didn't know it. We left our seats immediately. The surprise she found later....oh boy.

That's what I'm looking for. I love the intensity of the crowd. I try to be loud on my end... I've been in the North endzone on the grandstand sides every year since maybe 2013ish?

I forget now. It is real.

I'm strongly considering moving already so this seems like a good opportunity.
