To the 60 and above crowd you were one of our heroes and legends. I know this is a basketball board but it is a sports board as well.

Yogi Berra, Master Yankee Catcher With Goofy Wit, Dies at 90

Yogi Berra, one of baseball’s greatest catchers and characters, who as a player was a mainstay of 10 Yankee championship teams and as a manager led both the Yankees and Mets to the World Series — but who may be more widely known as an ungainly but lovable cultural figure, inspiring a cartoon character and issuing a seemingly limitless supply of unwittingly witty epigrams known as Yogi-isms — died on Tuesday. He was 90.

I always have been a Yankee hater but loved Yogi, how could anyone not. Truly a legend who continued to entertain us even in his latter years. One of the all time greats. Peace to his family in their sadness and God Bless.

True gentleman. About 5 years ago, when Phil Rizzuto was sick and had full-on dementia, Yogi visited him every day in the hospital for a couple of years.

Life lesson learned from that tiny guy and 3-time MVP on a loaded team.

Honestly, I thought he'd been dead for 15 years or so. Had no clue he was still alive.

I heard he once ordered a pizza. When it was delivered, he noticed it was cut into eight pieces. He said, " I wish they'd cut it in four pieces. I don't think I can eat eight".

"You gotta go to your friends' funerals or they won't come to yours." -- Yogi Berrave now

Who is the greatest Yankee still alive now? Does it jump all the way to Jeter?
