As I watch Pitino destroy the big east and Golden destroy the SEC it got me thinking how important coaching is in college. If these two guys can go to these schools and find players that compete then the UK coach never gets a pass. Even in year 1. Pitino and Golden have players that compete. For that matter UL does under Kelsey. That’s why you never get a pass. You have to be tough and hungry. Everything in place here. If you can do it at Florida and St John you can do it here

How did Pitino do in year 1 at St. John’s?
How did Golden do in year 1 at Florida?
What was the health and roster situation?

Don't dare bring common sense into this discussion

It’s not about the result as much as the hunger. Injuries or first year have nothing to do with it. UL plays their azz off on defense. They look like a very good team and we could not beat them right now.

What exactly about tying the NCAA record for most top 15 wins in a single season in year 1 indicates our team hasn't been playing their *** off or doesn't have hunger?

I love our team and coach but you know defense is serious weakness lie to yourself if you need to

Can’t compare. Pitino came from probation with no portal. Cal followed Gillespie and was a shot from final 4.
Cal had P Pat and Darius Miller plus Razor Ramon to go with Daniel Orton and HIS recruits from Memphis.

Pope got Perry and an INJURED half the season Robinson.

So we were in the SAME shape as Pitino his first season, only Rick retained MORE players!!!

Are you retarded? Seriously asking. 2010 UK was not a shot from the final four. They were down 5 points with like 10 seconds left and bricked yet another 3 pointer and west Virginia then made 2 FTs to win by 7.

UK never had a legit shot to make the final four once WVU went on a run n the 2nd half.

Popes abbreviated 1st season has been a huge success no matter what happens next week. Pope’s unofficial 1st season is next year with a full offseason to build a roster. Let’s see how he does next year. I think he will kill it.
Fair but I’m concerned about competing and attitude to destroy your opponent

Year one for a selection of coaches at their current school

Pitino: 20-13, missed NCAAT
Golden: 16-17, missed NCAAT
Pearl: 15-20, missed NCAAT
Scheyer: 27-9, 5 seed, L Round of 32
Nate Oats: 16-15, missed NCAAT
Dan Hurley: 16-17, missed NCAAT

And I’m sorry but if you’d trade our season for Louisville’s you’re an idiot. They racked up tons of wins in a cupcake *** conference and will still be seeded below us. Because nobody gives a crap about any of the teams they’ve beaten.

And it's improved tremendously in the past month. St. John's offense is a bigger weak point for them than our defense is for us. They have the 68th rated offense while we have the 56th rated defense. You can make a real case for us having the better, more well rounded team and we've done that with an incredible amount of injuries.

Its almost even hard to call this his first year. He had no returning players super short recruiting window to even put together a team. I honestly do no think people are giving him nearly enough credit for what he has done this year especially when you factor in all the injuries we have had. Next year will really be year 1 for him and I think you will see a huge improvement.

Louisville: Projected 6 seed
Kentucky: Projected 3 seed

Some people just always have to be angry. I don’t get it. We have a lot to be happy about in this fanbase.

Toe to toe with duke. I think they win this game
