UK has performed terribly in football way, way before Mitch was hired. I don't really know what you expected.
And, BTW, 95% of the posters on here loved the Stoops hire when it happened. Everyone was on the Stoops train until a few weeks ago. Now it is Mitch's fault? Why wasn't everyone reacting like this when he was hired.

We were. A good portion of us were screaming for Petrino and got yet another unproven coordinator.
Petrino was the hands down BEST coach available and one of the best coaches in the country who literally begged to come to UK. Mitch didn't even consider it.

Petrino begged for this job and was turned down that is Mitch's fault. People gave stoops a chance when he was hired, which was the right thing to do. Stoops gets an undeserving contract extension by Mitch. Now we are losing games and our rivals have an awesome team. Mitch made that decision and gets paid good money to keep making bad choices. But no let's not blame Mitch, blame the fans.
Look most us fans love UK football, we all wanted Stoops to work, rooted for him, supported him and were cautiously optimistic. Doesn't mean a large portion of us didn't want BP and didn't see this situation coming a million miles away.
Nobody on this board wanted Bobby when he was available...anybody can say that now...i still dont wantvthe trashy sob...all of you need to step away...
It's Mitch's fault because he's the athletic director, regardless of how the fans felt about the hire at the time. If this was a job any old fan could do, the salary wouldn't be as enormous as it is.
Sure, there is something to be said for making a hire that's popular. But ultimately, judgment of Mitch's overall job performance isn't predicated on whether he made moves that were blameless at the outset. It's whether he gets R-E-S-U-L-T-S.

I'm perfectly willing to give Mitch a pass on hiring Stoops. However, giving him a large contract extension with a huge buyout without a hint of merit or performance must be one of the dumbest decisions in the history of college football.
I'll admit I liked the Stoops hire and have been behind him. I think he worked hard to get some things done and would like to see him success but something is not right, its quite clear we suck. He keeps talking about changing the mentality but the more I look the more losing appeal swag we got. Im tired of the BS, are we going to play FB at a fairly high level or suck and just look good doing it.
I would say at least half of UK fans were begging on this board to hire Petrino. We knew he would turn around UK football.
