Go Rebs,no disrespect meant.Cant help it.Played against him, also those boys from Harrodsburg.Meux,Parks, the Yeasts and Alvins boys.Man were they loaded.Beat them and Danville my senior year, but Chris was the best of all of them and it wasnt even close.Henry though did rush for 400 yards in the first half against Berea, the game was called and he made Sports Illustrated.Had a decent career UK too.Still Chris Jones was special.

I would add George Adams, Mark Logan and Raphael Little to that list also!!!
I was going to add both as George Adams trucked me in a game (interior defense line at Bryan Station) and I played with Marc Logan, Cornell Burbage and Monty Dawson. We were good but Christian County knocked us out of playoffs.

Chris Jones's injury is probably the most bitter pill I've swallowed as a UK football fan. If I ever really believed for a moment that the program bore a curse, it was on that day. Even as I years later sat in the west end zone watching that dark comedy referred to as a "Miracle" I was less disheartened than I was when I learned Chris Jones would never play again. Chris Oats's stroke is the only thing to rival it.

My Top 5?

1. Moe Williams
2. Mark Higgs
3. Benny Snell
4. Artose Pinner
5. Rafael Little

My sincerest apologies to all Wildcat backs of earlier eras. I'm just working with what I've witnessed.

Wilbur "Shorty" Jameson. Someone once asked Shorty how he gained so many yards? He replied "I just got behind Gene Donaldson and followed him"!

D. Lock was as fast to hit the edge as Ive seen in the SEC and here. All be it Benny Jr. & CRod didn’t have to try hitting the edge , but Lock did and was good at it. Also Tony Dixon another solid RB

Best I can remember he had a single D1 offer, and that was Kentucky. Lock was a track star in Oklahoma.

CRod and Benny Jr ,Al Baker , Higgs, and when he was used there Pookie Jones was effective.

Thats a great list that i'm all too familiar with. I jumped the field at Neyland and got Greg Woods chin strap after we beat UT down there in 76. That minds me of another from that Era, Rod Stewart who needs some love.

Great story! Re Rod Stewart...great player, Snell/CRod type thumper. Chris Hill another good RB of that era.

Once had four future NFL running backs on the same team:
George Adams
Mark Higgs
Marc Logan
Ivy Joe Hunter
Mark Higgs will always be special in my heart. Loved him at UK and when he landed with my Dolphins I was ecstatic. Up and down pro career but, when he was healthy and motivated, he was very good.
I ran the crap out of him on Super Tecmo Bowl. LOL!

Moe was the best I ever saw in person. If Rodriguez was a little faster, he would of been the best we’ve ever seen.
An interesting thing is that CRod isn't "slow". He has broken several long runs (+50 yds) in his career and I don't recall him getting caught from behind very often.

But, to your point, if he was a little faster, oh wow. When he runs angry, and if he was a little faster. Wow.

I wondered if anyone would remember Chris Jones besides me. IF (capitals are intentional) my memory is accurate he was from Danville and showed great promise. I believe we held off Oklehoma to keep him at home. Wasn't he going to take over from Sonny? I just seem to remember the few times I saw him, he was electric.

Greg Woods had that touchdown at Knoxville to beat UT 7-0 and I was there. We scored more but the refs screwed us (I was on the goal line and had a great angle).

No love for Al Baker? Watched him physically abuse a Georgia defense one game. The DBs quit meeting him and started running around him to jump on his back.
