It's moronic. "Lamar is illusive because he is in all dark camouflage. (summarized)" I wonder why doesn't that work the same for the rest of the black RBs and QBs in the league?

If that is a good sample of the announcer's insight into the game, he needs to find another job.

I am going to take the other side. He had nothing but PRAISE for Lamar Jackson. He was explaining why it is so hard to see who has the football because Lamar is so good at concealing where the football is because the football is dark ,the Jersey is dark, and Lamar's skin color is dark. All which are correct. He wasn't saying anything derogatory or malicious about Lamar. There was no Racial intent at all in what he said. Let's change the color. Let's change the football to the color WHITE. And in talking about how Aaron Rodgers and how good he conceals the ball saying you really cant see where the white football is going because the White Packers Jersey ,his white skin, and the white football. Would we consider this statement Racist or Malicious in any way?? No we wouldn't.

Yes, it's black privilege systemic oppression of white athletes.

To fix the unfair advantage these oppressors have inflicted on our marginalized youth of white athletes being told they aren't good enough to play football, we should change the color to beige to level the playing field. Also, while we are at it, the salaries of black athletes should be trimmed and used to subsidize other salaries who did not benefit from this privilege.

It just seems like an extremely stupid way to describe why Lamar Jackson is as effective as he is. Like saying that about Michael Vick when he was with the falcons and their dark uniforms. I don’t think it’s racist though.

It probably wasn't the smartest thing to say, but it's not racist. People have really messed up the definition of racist over the years. Simply acknowledging someone's skin color and discussing it without ill intent is not a bad thing. Good rule of thumb, if you have to ask if something is racist, it probably isn't. Most racist people are happy to let their hatred be known.

I agree it is not racist and he had no ill-intent with the comment. Maybe I should have asked a different question.

If it was not racist...and he had no ill-intent...and from what I've read this guy seems to be pretty respected in his profession...then why the need for punishment from his employer?

I'm just glad this guy hasn't been fired for it which seems to be the go to move in the "cancel culture" we seem to be living in these days.

He needs punishment for this so that we can all see that the company he works for supports multiculturalism. Never miss a chance to get the word out about how you support the poor, minorities, the down trodden, and so forth.

Just like the university where I work. Someone wrote racist graffiti in the corner of the library. It is doubtful that many people saw it. Instead of just sending a janitor to clean it up, the school administration came out with an email to all students, faculty and staff denouncing the actions of the graffiti writer.

It's likely one of those suspensions that he still gets paid for. So the dumb comment got him a day/week vacation.

0-1 for the presidency. Maybe Tim Scott out of South Carolina Or John James out of Michigan can even up the score.

Is he the first black football player to play in dark jerseys? Man the raiders have been missing out all these years.

Dumb comment

This is not racist, but it sounds like it might be and most people are not smart enough to sort through these things so racists can run with it and SJW's can cry foul. It's the type of thing that is just better left unsaid.

I think Lamar Jackson has the skill, the team, and a big enough body to be great for a long time. But he's not the first mobile black QB to have a great start. Michael Vick, RG3 come to mind. The problem is, it doesn't seem to be sustainable for the long term, regardless of color.

Maybe Jackson can buck that trend, but one knee injury and it's probably over.

I'm still trying to grasp how the context in which the comment was used could be considered racist. so now you can't even point out the fact that a black person has dark skin. It's racist to say a black person has dark skin? That is in essence what this reporter did. I think they're grasping at straws here. His comment was in no way demeaning to Jackson, he was merely pointing out something that enhances Jackson's abilities.

Did Michael Vick even have the career of Randall Cunningham? I mean, if you're gonna make these comparisons might as well include those that had legitimately complete NFL careers.

This Tim Ryan dude . . . did he say something racist? Absolutely not. But did he say something not particularly smart and that could be offensive? Certainly. Question becomes whether one gives a rats ***. I know I sure as hell don't. His employer has the right to decide whether his remarks deviate from any standard / expectation. Given who his employer is, we can all doubt the reasonability of such consideration if the outcome is termination. Their decision will most likely be based on how it will benefit them, based on who Tim Ryan is, and who this Ravens QB dude is . . . what's-his-name.

"He's really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson, but when you consider his dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing," Ryan said on air. "I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point."

Well...is it racist?
Pete Bell said "everything is culturally biased" when recruiting Neon Boudeaux in Blue Chips. Therefore, it has to be racist to a degree.

I did not know that using that word "that" in front of a person's name was racist until this week. Does this mean I have to attend more "Sensitivity Training"?

The only thing I see is Brad's "Earned not given" tattoo...and if you are Malik Monk, are you not worried about a gun or at the very least an axe?

Regarding the LJ question. Tough one. Racist, no. Offensive to LJ, potentially. It is all about pointing out differences in people to prove a point. Some people take offense to things, and some don't...in a public forum like radio it would better to err on the side of caution and not use the analogy as it was kind of dumb to begin with. Pretty sure it would make no difference if LJ was playing with a pink ball.
