We talked to him before. He did get it from Central.....that's how I've ended up there multiple times to gather information. He was a fanatic when it came to that really old JD diesel tractor.......I think a lot of it is that he just didn't want to let it go.....nor does he want to admit just how good his new mower is.

Well if he needs anything, please get ahold of me. He spent alot of money for that mower and I'd like to make sure he's happy with it. He went from basically a Chevette to a top of the line Escalade, so if there's something going on ride wise, it should be a pretty easy issue to address.

I own a 72" John Deere diesel zero turn and I like it very much. That being said my parents own a Kubota diesel zero turn the same size and I believe my next one will be a Kubota as well.

Just got off of my 1991 Grasshopper that came from Huber's fine establishment. 30 years and still kicking. Can't say enough good things about Grasshopper brand mowers.
We started selling Grasshopper mower in 1982. Its amazing how many older Grasshoppers that are 30 + years old are still out there mowing grass.

Just my two cents, avoid buying from a big box store, Home Depot, Lowes, Etc. buy from a dealer. You'll see mowers like John Deere, Cub Cadet, etc. at the big box stores, but those models were made specifically for mass consumers. cheaper build, cheaper materials, lighter guage metals. etc. you'll typically see a preformed deck on them. you want a welded deck made of heavier guage steel. Deere is overpriced. I only have 1.3 acres, but I'm on a Simplicity 48". But I bought from a dealer. If you can afford it, Big Dog is a pretty nice nice ride. I once had a 54" Big Dog Stout that unfortunately went in my divorce. That was a sad day.

i bought the 2000 HDX Limited Edition with MyRide. has canopy and tweels, and the FX Kawasaki.

i have to mow a lot of grass now to pay for it, but a good deal i think at $9K.

thanks for all of the input from you guys and especially @HUBER!
Just saw this. Nice choice, just be careful with the canopy and roll bar around trees, if you're riding along looking ahead, you tend to forget about what's above and behind you. catching that canopy or roll bar on a tree limb going 20 mph can be pretty catastrophic.

haha! only got it caught once! the first two limbs were victims of the kinda sharp supports and were pruned.
week two i was mowing slow around a tree that i cut around week one and then i was staring at the top of the tree with the mower standing almost straight up. realized what happened and pulled the sticks back. that canopy and support is very rugged! no damage but you are 100% correct.

i love the mower. totally different experience and much faster.

My 74 y/o mom bought a Ferris 6 yrs ago and likes it. She uses it to mow 5 acres that is somewhat flat, but rough.

I think the other selling point for the Ferris is some kind of special oil system.

Your Mom doesn't happen to live in Clark County does she? I delivered a Ferris to an older lady around that time frame and was very concerned that she would be able to handle the mower. Within 30 minutes she was mowing like a landscape pro.

The oil thing you're referring to is Oil Guard and is featured on their units with the Vanguard Engines. Its basically a dry sump system like a race car or airplane would have with 5 quarts of synthetic oil that keeps the engine cooler and allows for 500 hours between oil changes versus the typical system where an engine holds 2.5 quarts of convention oil in the crank case and needs to be changed every 50-75 hours.

Mom is in Hopkins county. I should've given you a shout out in my last reply, you did give some advice about the mower before she bought it. I think you knew the dealership (Johnson's in Mortons Gap).

Mom drives that thing like its a race car.

Matter, Bun, and Bonnie who owned Johnsons before the new ownership were a dealership I called when I worked at Ferris. Some of my absolute favorite people I called on as they always treated me like family and Bonnie would make me lunch in their makeshift kitchen. Loved those people and because of some posters on here and my visits to Madisonville playing in the Eli Barron, I truly love that town.
