Many, many Hispanics are not against increased border security. Quite the opposite. In Texas they generally split their vote between the two parties. I think our governor got around 50% of the Hispanic vote.

A stunning new poll shows that Hispanic support for President Donald Trump has grown to 45 percent since his election.
“The biggest surprise in this new poll is Trump’s approval among Hispanic voters, which is at 45 percent approval/51 percent disapproval,” Zogby said. “In February the numbers were less among Hispanics at 39 percent approval/53 percent disapproval.”

In November, Trump won roughly 29 percent of the Latino vote.

It is not clear why Trump’s support has risen among Latinos. But a series of polls stretching back to 2014 show that many Hispanics strongly support more border security to protect their communities from crime and low-wage labor. For example, a poll of Latinos taken in June 2014 showed “77 percent [support] for an e-verify system for employers [and] 78 percent for stronger border security.” The 2014 poll of 800 registered Latinos was funded by FWD.us, an advocacy group supported by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

This surge in Hispanic support is accompanied by a decline in Trump’s general approval, going from 48 percent approval down to 43 percent in the current survey.
The polling firm also found that support for Trump among independents has also increased slightly.

“Support among Independent voters has increased from 43% to 46% approval,” Zogby wrote. “A majority of younger voters (18-29 years old) disapprove (53%), while 39% of younger voters approve of Trump’s job as president. These numbers were identical three months ago.”

As in other polls, Zogby also found that Trump’s core supporters remain committed to him.

The poll was conducted nationwide via a random online survey of 876 likely voters in the United States, including 96 Hispanics, from April 28 to April 29.

Says the isolationist populist. Such tough words on these interwebs today.

I am far from an isolationist. Wanting tough vetting on refugees is very prudent. Ask France, or Belgium, or Germany or Sweden. Obama identified 7 countries without a functioning government that were put on a special list. Trump wanted a temporary 90 ban to figure out how we can possibly vet the refugees that ISIS promised to infiltrate if the countries cannot supply needed information.

That's not isolationism except to a radical lib. It is prudent and if the European countries cited about had stronger vetting, people would be alive today that are in the ground. Obama said that even if one life is saved, more gun control is prudent. The same should be true on this issue, right?

In fact, I am in favor of increased immigration for those that can add great value to our country. The highly skilled, the wealthy, those with capital that want to start businesses, etc. We don't need any more low wage, low skilled labor.

You're a prude, I'd bet. But prudent to say that the US shouldn't help with an international refugee crisis?

When Trump does something wrong, I admit it. I hate many of his tweets. I did not support him during the primary campaign. I did vote for him because he is much, much better than Hillary.

You on the other hand, give him zero credit even when he does something good. And don't tell me all that he has done is bad.

A refugee crisis stated by Obama. Boom, Trump's first job is to protect American lives. Right? Obama created that list of 7 countries. They have no functioning government. ISIS has told us they will infiltrate the refugee population. Ask France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden and others if that is true.

The far better answer is to create safe spaces along with our Arab allies and NATO in those countries. But if we have 100% certainty that a refugee won't kill an American, I am all in favor of helping them, but not at the expense of an American life.
