Less than two weeks from its appearance in the ACC Championship Game, Clemson landed a massive win on the recruiting trail. Phenix City (Ala.) Central four-star EDGE Tomarrion Parker committed to head coach Dabo Swinney and his staff, elevating the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class to No. 9 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

Clemson’s class, which now ranks No. 1 in the ACC, climbed one spot from No. 10. It currently contains one five-star, 16 four-stars and five three-stars.

Parker — who was previously committed to Penn State — is the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 12 EDGE in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Alabama.

Parker continues Clemson’s recruiting success this cycle

Parker is the Tigers’ first commit in more than a month. His pledge gives Clemson five top-100 recruits in the 2023 cycle.

That group includes Parker, Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian five-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson four-star defensive lineman Peter Woods, Warner Robins (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Vic Burley and Odessa (Texas) Permian four-star interior offensive lineman Harris Sewell. Parker, Vizzina and Woods make up three of the top 10 players in Alabama.

Of the Tigers’ 22 commitments, nearly half (10) are from Georgia. Some of them are top-300 prospects, including Burley, Rome (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Stephiylan Green, Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek four-star linebacker Jamal Anderson and McDonough (Ga.) Eagles Landing Christian Academy four-star offensive tackle Zechariah Owens. After backing off his pledge to Clemson on Oct. 13, Owens recommitted to the program less than a week later.

Swinney has also landed players from Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Washington D.C. One of his biggest wins was going north to land Burlington (Mass.) Buckingham Browne & Nichols School four-star wide receiver Ronan Hanafin — the No. 282 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus — who was considering Boston College and Notre Dame among others.
