Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett four-star defensive lineman Kayden McDonald received an offer from Colorado on Thursday night. The Ohio State commit announced the news over social media.

McDonald is the No. 298 overall prospect and No. 41 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 26 player in Georgia.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pound recruit chose the Buckeyes on Oct. 31. He is currently one of three defensive linemen in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class.

Regarding Colorado, the Buffaloes’ 2023 recruiting class contains 11 commitments. The group, which is led by Ardmore (Okla.) Plainview three-star wide receiver Morgan Pearson, ranks No. 66 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 9 in the Pac-12.

Even though Deion Sanders was hired less than a week ago, Colorado has already landed some skilled recruits. They include Fort Myers (Fla.) IMG Academy 2025 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr., Columbus (Ohio) KIPP Columbus three-star offensive tackle Jordan Hall and Compton (Calif.) Leuzinger 2024 three-star wide receiver Daijon Calimon

The Buffaloes are also working to land top talent. Colorado tight ends coach Tim Brewster paid a visit to Lincoln (Neb.) Lincoln East four-star athlete Malachi Coleman, the No. 71 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus, on Thursday. Blue-chip players to receive offers from the Buffaloes include McDonald, Derby (Kan.) four-star running back Dylan Edwards and Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill tight end Ethan Davis (Tennessee commit).

“Deion told me… that he really wants me to be a part of (what) he’s building at Colorado,” Edwards told On3’s Chad Simmons after he decommitted from Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon.

McDonald has an On3 NIL Valuation of $19.6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
