Colorado freshman running back Dylan Edwards took a play 75 yards to the house to give the Buffaloes a 24-14 lead over No. 17 TCU in the third quarter.

On a short pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Edwards followed his blockers on a screen and knifed through the TCU defense. Once he broke the second level, he took it to the house.

After the touchdown, Edwards put his stat line up to three carries for 16 yards and four catches for 89 yards and two touchdown receptions.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Edwards was a four-star recruit out of Derby (Kans.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 2 overall prospect in the state, the No. 11 running back in the class and the No. 181 overall prospect in the class.

Deion Sanders unfazed by Colorado matchup vs. TCU

Coach Prime deflected any pressure that he might feel, knowing the big moments he’s been in throughout his career as an athlete. He wanted to talk about his players and how excited he was for them to maximize their opportunity against TCU.

So essentially, there are no nerves. It’s just football. As guys like Edwards showed in a half-plus so far Saturday, the moment didn’t look too big.

“I know it may seem like it but it’s not about me,” Sanders said this week. “And you talking about a big state. I think I played the Super Bowl and World Series. I’m good. I’m good. It was great. This is about the kids, man. I want them to go out there and maximize the moment and take advantage of the exposure in the light that they have and I feel like they will, 100%.”

If Colorado is to upset TCU in Week 1, the Buffaloes have to play fundamentally sound and do it better than the Horned Frogs, something Sanders complimented. Sanders doesn’t want any self-inflicted mistakes to cost Colorado a football game.
