Deion Sanders landed a massive recruiting win for Colorado on Dec. 10. That day, Derby (Kan.) four-star running back Dylan Edwards — a recent Notre Dame decommit — announced his pledge to the Buffaloes.

Edwards is currently the highest-ranked player in Colorado’s 2023 recruiting class. He believes other talented prospects will join him in Boulder.

“I know a lot of guys are about to come here,” Edwards told Ari Wasserman of The Athletic. “I know a lot of guys that are about to flip their commitments. They are all big Power 5 guys with a lot of offers, guys that are four- and five-stars. Nobody is safe in this situation recruiting-wise. Coach Deion’s plan here is worth coming to look at, and recruits are going to want to do that.”

Right now, the Buffaloes’ 2023 class is No. 57 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 9 in the Pac-12. It contains 13 prospects, but Edwards is the only one ranked in the top 200 of the On3 Consensus.

However, Sanders has already landed other blue-chip players. One is Fort Myers (Fla.) IMG Academy 2025 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr., who was previously pledged to Texas A&M.

“Deion just called and said, ‘We need some dogs, some dogs here, and I want you to be the first to come in the ’23 class,'” Edwards told Wasserman. “He said, ‘I want you to start this thing off. (We) can be great.’ I already know he’s gonna put the ball in my hands. And so that’s what he said, ‘I’ll put the ball in your hands for you to be great and I want you to do it with me.’ If you know, he’s Deion Sanders. That’s what you have to do.”

Sanders has already offered multiple four-star recruits in the 2023 cycle. They include Smyrna (Tenn.) linebacker Arion Carter, Vivian (La.) North Caddo wide receiver Omarion Miller, Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill tight end Ethan Davis (Tennessee commit), Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett defensive lineman Kayden McDonald (Ohio State commit) and Carrollton (Ga.) Central four-star athlete Vicari Swain (South Carolina commit).
