Rapid Reaction to Florida’s 52-35 loss at LSU

On Saturday night, Billy Napier led the Florida Gators into Death Valley to take on the LSU Tigers. After a back and forth game, the Gators eventually fell to the Tigers and dropped to .500 on the season.

The game itself was full of emotional swings and after the game, Napier was asked about how he keeps his team together through those emotions. However, he shot down the idea that it was even a potential problem for Florida.

“We don’t have that problem,” Billy Napier said. “We don’t have any problem keeping guys together. We need to execute a little bit better.”

In the end, Florida fell 52-35. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was too much for the Florida defense and it cost the Gators. Admittedly, Napier does see there are issues with this team. However, he doesn’t see those issues with how the team actually plays together.

“We’ve got intangibles. We’ve got morale. We have a group that tries to do the right way. We’ve just got to continue to learn and grow. Play with more detail, more discipline, more poise, communicate better. Work hard on our fundamentals. Those are where our issues are. We don’t have any issue staying together. That’s a fact.”

At this point in the season, the goal for Florida has to be to make a bowl game. To do that, the Gators will need to win one of their final two games. However, with those games being against Missouri and Florida State, that’s not going to be easy to do.

Florida opened as a 10.5-point underdog against Missouri.

Paul Finebaum discusses where Billy Napier stands at Florida

Coming to the end of his second season with the Florida Gators, Billy Napier hasn’t found the on-field success that many fans were hoping for. Following the loss to Arkansas, Paul Finebaum broke down where Napier currently stands.

“Scott Strickland, the AD down there, is all in on Billy Napier, but the problem is the statistics just are insanely bad for him,” Finebaum said

“Billy Napier came from a smaller school where he did well and everybody said we got a better coach than Brian Kelly, remember? Florida is in a quagmire right now, trying to figure out what to do. Do they hold on to that rope? Do they say all the right things? When, quite frankly, the fans are looking at Billy Napier and going, ‘Man what’s what’s with this guy?’”
