Gardendale (Ala.) High four-star Kelby Collins announced Wednesday he will be heading to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend to watch Florida take on Tennessee.

Collins is ranked as the No. 38 player in the 2023 On3 Top 100 and is the sixth-best defensive lineman in the class.

He was supposed to make a trip to The Swamp last weekend to watch the big-time matchup between the Gators and Alabama, but canceled his trip due to the weather.

The weekend was considered a major success for the Gators on the recruiting trail, and they will hope to keep the momentum rolling this weekend

Kelby Collins is one of the best recruits in Alabama

Collins is one of the best recruits in the state of Alabama, ranking sixth in the 2023 class.

Therefore, it is unsurprising that Alabama and Auburn are recruiting him hard.

The 6-foot-5 lineman visited both schools during the summer, along with Georgia and Clemson.

Kelby Collins has offers from all four schools. He also had offers from traditional powerhouses Florida, Florida State, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M.

West Virginia offered Collins on Tuesday

West Virginia offered Kelby Collins on Tuesday, which’ first since the start of his junior season and his 24th overall.

The Mountaineers have 17 commits in the class of 2022. Their top player — and only member of the On300 — is cornerback Jacolby Spells.

The four-star from Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage is ranked No. 241 on the On300.

While Spells is its only On300 commit at the moment, West Virginia is still in the mix for other top players such as Miami Central four-star linebacker Wesley Bissainthe.

Bissainthe told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that he loved the environment in Morgantown.

West Virginia also has plenty of good players who did not make the On300, such as four-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol of Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton and four-star linebacker Travious Lathan of Miami Gulliver Prep. Marchiol led his high school to a wild comeback last week against national powerhouse Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

As with most teams, the Mountaineers have not received a commitment from a recruit in the class of 2023. If they could get a player as highly regarded as Kelby Collins, that would be an incredible win on the trail for Brown and his staff.
