The Peach State is once again loaded with top talent, this time in the 2025 cycle. Of the top 300 prospects in the On3 Industry Ranking, 38 currently hail from Georgia.

As a result, Kirby Smart and the UGA staff are looking to feast on the in-state recruiting trail. The Bulldogs already own five commitments from Georgians and are currently trending for plenty more.

One name that’s near the top of the UGA board is Atlanta Westlake four-star wide receiver Travis Smith. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Dawgs are trending heavily for the 6-foot-3.5, 200-pounder.

Earlier this month, Georgia recruiting insiders Jake Reuse and Jeremy Johnson each logged picks in favor of the SEC powerhouse landing Smith’s pledge. UGA currently has a 95.2% cushion in the On3 RPM, with Alabama a distant second at just 2.4%.

“It’s no secret Smith has loved Georgia since the start of this process. The Bulldogs saw Smith at a camp and gave him a vote of confidence. Smith is also a key, in-state target in a position of need for Georgia,” Johnson wrote upon logging his prediction. “The Bulldogs have a lot of talent in their wide receiver room. There aren’t any with the skillset of Smith. Smith’s size and speed make him a unique option for Georgia.”

Smith is the No. 99 overall prospect and No. 11 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in Georgia.

On3 ranks Smith higher than other recruiting services. He checks in at No. 50 overall in the updated 2025 On300 and is also the No. 7 WR and No. 10 prospect in The Peach State.

“Georgia has put itself in a good position early in the new year. Smith has visited Athens over half a dozen times. He is familiar with the culture under Kirby Smart, the talent in Athens appeals to him and he already feels like part of the family,” On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons wrote earlier this year.

Bryan McClendon spent a lot of time with Smith over the weekend too. The two have a strong relationship. That connection, the location, Georgia’s consistency and the buzz coming out of the weekend has the Bulldogs trending for one of the best in the Peach State.”

With five commitments in-hand thus far, Smart and his staff are gunning for plenty of the top uncommitted recruits left on the board. That includes a pair of in-state five-stars in Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Elijah Griffin and five-star linebacker Zayden Walker.

Manchester (Ga.) five-star DL Justus Terry is the highest-ranked commit in the class, checking in at No. 8 nationally. He’s one of three top-100 recruits in the fold in Athens, alongside Folkston (Ga.) Camden County four-star tight end Elyiss Williams and Buford (Ga.) four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte.

Georgia’s class currently ranks No. 3 in the  On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Bulldogs are behind just LSU and Ohio State as they look to repeat atop the rankings after hauling in the top-ranked class in the 2024 cycle.
