Ainsworth (Neb.) four-star tight end Carter Nelson has locked in four official visits this month. He kicked things off with a trip to Georgia this weekend.

The trip to Athens is the second Nelson’s taken since the start of April. He visited campus for the first time on April 6.

If Carter were to pledge to Georgia, that would give the Bulldogs two of the nation’s top 2024 tight ends in their class. On3 No. 1 tight end Jaden Reddell announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on May 24.

According to the On3 recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Georgia sits with the third-highest odds to land Nelson’s pledge at 11.1%. Notre Dame sits slightly higher at 13%.

The team to beat for Nelson though are his home state Cornhuskers. Nebraska sits with a 40.1% chance to land Nelson’s pledge. He’s visited Nebraska more than any other school up to this point in his recruitment.

Nelson will be back at Nebraska on June 23 for an official visit. He also has officials lined up with Notre Dame (June 9) and Penn State (June 16).

“No matter what my decision ends up being whenever I get there I will always be a Nebraska fan,” Nelson told HuskerOnline’s Bryan Munson in February. “I remember a Christmas that I stayed with my grandparents when I was a little kid and I had the corn cob hat on my head and Nebraska overalls on. Nebraska will always be home for me. But so far, I don’t think that is what I want to base my decision on.”

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 5 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Nebraska.

On3 is slightly higher on him than other recruiting services, tabbing him as the country’s No. 72 prospect and No. 4 tight end in the latest On300 rankings.

Carter Nelson currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $110K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
