Wisconsin struggled mightily against former coach Bret Bielema and Illinois on Saturday. One Fighting Illini player had some fun with that connection after the game, too.

Sydney Brown posted a photoshop on Twitter of Bielema holding a badger. It featured Bielema — wearing an Illinois hat — holding the animal, which had a Wisconsin logo edited onto its chest. Brown’s tweet came shortly after the Fighting Illini defeated the Badgers 34-10 at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday.

Brown had a tackle and a pass breakup in the game, but his brother — running back Chase Brown — had another huge day for the Illinois offense. He had 129 yards and a touchdown on the ground as he continued to lead the Fighting Illini attack.

Illinois put up a strong showing against Wisconsin on Saturday as both teams continue to try and compete in a wide open Big Ten West. The game marked the first time Bielema returned to Camp Randall since he left Wisconsin to become the head coach at Arkansas following the 2012 season.

For the Badgers, it was yet another loss as the program continues to struggle this season. Wisconsin is now 0-2 in Big Ten play and 2-3 overall on the season. Heading into the matchup with Illinois, fans — including former Wisconsin basketball player Ben Brust — voiced their frustration with the program’s direction.

Former Wisconsin basketball player Ben Brust explodes on state of Badgers football program

After discussing Northwestern‘s plans for an $800 million stadium, Brust’s anger escalated from joking about the Wildcats, to legitimately getting angry about the fact that Northwestern is doing more for its football program than Wisconsin.

“That means they’re investing into their football program not, not just the kids, but also the place that will get the kids there,” Brust said on his podcast, Scalzo & Brust. “Look, I’m sad. The talent gap is wide and other people are doing stuff, and we’re sitting there with our butts in the seats with the same damn people running the show. And guess what? It’s horrible. It’s monotonous. Let’s mix it up, let’s get some new ideas, let’s get some new people in the building. It’s the same crap! It just trickling down!

“We are seven-point favorites at home against Illinois. Seven! That is embarrassing. We used to be 30 point favorites against that crap-ass school. Seven point favorites at Camp Randall, seven!”
