Logan Brown, a former five-star offensive lineman in the 2019 class, will transfer to Kansas, he announced Sunday via Twitter. Brown spent the first four years of his college career at Wisconsin before being dismissed from the team for an “internal incident” earlier this month.

Brown appeared in all 13 games last season and was a staple of the Wisconsin offensive line. He was the second Badger to hit the transfer portal since the firing of head coach Paul Chryst.

Under the new transfer portal rules, players have 30 days after a coaching change to decide if they want to enter the portal. If they don’t enter by the end of that period, they’ll have to wait until the portal window opens next on Dec. 5.

According to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average, Brown ranked as the No. 16 overall player and No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2019 class. He is set to join a Jayhawks team that started 5-0 and is in the midst of its most successful season since 2009.

More on Logan Brown’s decision to transfer, dismissal from Wisconsin

Brown announced his decision to transfer from Wisconsin on Oct. 12, a little more than a week after Chryst was fired. However, interim coach Jim Leonhard made it clear that even if the offensive lineman had wanted to stay with the program, he didn’t have that option.

“The reality of what happened is that there was an internal incident here within the program and Logan Brown was dismissed from the program,” Leonhard said. “It was not a choice. He was dismissed from the program.”

As he announced that he was entering the portal, Brown still made sure to thank the Badgers for giving him the opportunity out of high school.

“To Wisconsin Football, thank you for the opportunity for the last 4 years,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “I will be entering the transfer portal and will be continuing my academic and football career elsewhere.”
