Nobody has had a better second weekend of the NCAA Tournament thus far than Markquis Nowell. What the Kansas State guard has been able to do is incredible, as the Wildcats are currently in a battle against Florida Atlantic for a Final Four spot. Everyone has been enjoying the show, especially the hometown New York City crowd.

With Kansas State playing at Madison Square Garden, Nowell’s family has been able to watch him play on the biggest stage in person. CBS/Turner decided to spotlight the family, giving brother Marcus a microphone for the game. Apparently, smoothness runs in the family.

Just a few clips were shown during a timeout but Marcus produced some hilarious moments. He seems to be the opposite of his brother, not enjoying passing the ball. Claiming to be afraid of turning the ball over, the Nowell family must have different styles of offense.

You can watch the full mic’d up segment here.

If the family was going to see Nowell play prior to this weekend, they would have had to take a long trip to a different Manhattan. His play in the Little Apple has been incredible too but you can tell how much watching his brother show out in NYC means to him.

Now, they will be hoping to make a trip down to Houston for the Final Four. While playing at home means a lot, getting a national championship would mean that much more.

Markquis Nowell putting on a show in NCAA Tournament

With Kansas State being a three-seed in the East Regional, you most likely would not be too surprised with them making the Final Four. However, considering where everyone predicted the Wildcats to finish the season — dead last in the Big 12 — this has been an incredible coaching job from first-year headman Jermone Tang.

Getting Nowell on campus will go down as one of the biggest moves on the season. Not just for how well he is playing in the NCAA Tournament but for the entire year as well. However, he has been on a different level while playing at Madison Square Garden.

An NCAA Tournament record will have Nowell’s name next to it, having 19 assists in the Sweet Sixteen matchup against Michigan State. He was also able to put up 22 points despite having a bad ankle. If the final numbers are any similar against FAU, there is a good chance we see Nowell cutting down the nets on Saturday night.
