Markquis Nowell transferred to Kansas State in 2021 after playing three seasons at Little Rock. Nowell made a big impact right away for the Wildcats, earning 2022 All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention honors after averaging 12.4 points and five assists a game. He was also one of only two players that remained on the K-State roster following the coaching transition from Bruce Weber to Jerome Tang following the 2021-2022 season. His persistence paid off. During the 2022-2023 season, Nowell continued his ascent to become one of the top players in college basketball. He was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and a first-team all-league pick after averaging more than 16.8 points and leading the conference in assists. The 5-foot-7, 160-pound Harlem, New York, native, continued his assault on K-State immortality in March 2023 when he scored 20 points and set a NCAA Tournament record 19 assists in a Sweet 16 overtime victory over Michigan State.
