Louisville offensive lineman Vincent Lumia exited the Murray State game late in the fourth quarter on Thursday night with an injury. Lumia was seen wincing in pain and needed assistance from two different people to help him off the field. He was down for a few minutes, but eventually made his way off the field with help. Lumia was rolled up on the back of his left knee by a Murray State defender. There weren’t any updates on his injury status at the end of the game.

Louisville was in firm control of the game in a 56-0 obliteration of the Racers at the time of the injury. That would end up being the final score as the Cardinals rolled to the tune of a 56-0 beatdown.

Before Louisville, Lumia played for five years for the Duquesne Dukes–starting all 11 games there in 2022. He was named a third team All-Northeast Conference selection by Phil Steele. He was also graded as the team’s best offensive lineman (77.2), according to Pro Football Focus. In 2021, Lumia earned first team All-Northeast Conference honors after starting all 10 games. During the 2021 campaign, the 6-foot-2, 295-pounder was part of an offensive line that churned out 4.49 yards per rush–ranking second in the NEC.

In high school, Lumia helped guide the Suncoast High Chargers to three straight Florida District 15 crowns with a 7-3 overall record his senior year. His senior season, Lumia did not allow a sack and also racked up 73 pancake blocks, earning top offensive lineman in Palm Beach County honors from the Palm Beach Post.

The Cardinals rolled up 690 total yards against Murray State, in what will likely be their easiest game of the 2023 season. The Racers only had 166 total yards on Thursday night.

Louisville had no problems moving the ball through the air or the ground, racking up over 300 yards passing and over 300 yards rushing. Cardinals running back Jawhar Jordan had an electrifying performance, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns on just seven attempts. He even had a 70-yard touchdown run that was called back due to holding.

Louisville wide receiver Jamari Thrash also had an impressive showing, racking up two total touchdowns (one on the ground and one through the air). As a receiver, he hauled in three catches for 82 receiving yards.

Louisville is now 2-0 for the first time since 2017. Up next, they’ll face off against the Indiana Hoosiers. That one will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is slated for noon EST. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
