The 11th-ranked Louisville Cardinals got some great news about two of their star players ahead of their Thursday night matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers. Borth star wide receiver Jamari Thrash and running back Jawhar Jordan are considered game-time decisions. Both players are expected to suit up and attempt to play, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Louisville also has another player who will be sidelined on Thursday evening. Star defensive back Jarvis Brownlee, Jr. is out again, according to Thamel.

Jawhar Jordan has had a spectacular season so far. He’s already rushed for 881 yards on just 124 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. He’s also tacked on 11 touchdowns. Thrash is one of the more explosive receivers in college football. The LaGrange, Georgia native has hauled in 46 catches for 712 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Clearly, both players are massive pieces to the Louisville offensive attack, and they’ll hope they can operate at a high level on Thursday night. Virginia also has one of their key defenders, freshman Kam Robinson, who is listed as a game-time decision. He’s one of his team’s top playmakers and they missed him dearly last week against Georgia Tech once he went out with his knee injury.

The Cardinals have quietly ascended to inside the Top 15 rankings nationally. Other than their loss to Pittsburgh, Louisville has handled everybody else on their slate. They currently sit at 8-1 overall after they whipped Virginia Tech last weekend, 34-3.

The Virginia Cavaliers have been more competitive in most of their games than people realize. While they currently sit at 2-7 overall, they’ve had plenty of really close losses: JMU (36-35), NC State (24-21), Boston College (27-24), and the Miami Hurricanes (29-26 in OT). That’s four losses by three points or less.

Virginia also had one of their biggest wins in program history when they traveled to Chapel Hill and knocked off the North Carolina Tar Heels, 31-27. It was Virginia’s first road win over a Top 10 opponent in school history.

The Cavaliers will have a stiff test ahead of them on Thursday night. The Louisville defense currently ranks inside the Top 30 in the country in pass defense (28th in yards allowed per game) and inside the top 10 in rush defense (8th in yards allowed per game).

Virginia quarterback Tony Muskett has been listed as a game-time decision. If he can’t play, then fans will likely see true freshman Anthony Colandrea under center for the Cavaliers. While he’s shown tremendous potential at times, Colandrea has turned the football over at an extremely high rate lately.
