LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly updated the status of offensive lineman Anthony Bradford on Monday. The Tigers play New Mexico on Saturday in Baton Rouge and they could use the versatile lineman after his absence in Week 3 versus Mississippi State.

“Anthony is activated for this week, he’s in a competitive situation with the guard position,” Kelly said at his press conference. “Certainly, he’ll have an opportunity to earn playing time this week.”

Bradford is a particularly important piece of the Tigers’ offensive line. His starts for LSU have come at both guard and tackle thus far during his career. He emerged from fall camp during the 2021 season as a starter during his sophomore campaign.

Bradford is massive and tips the scales at 6-foot-5, 345-pounds. Kelly moved him around the offensive line as he tested out the best combinations to get the Tigers through the 2022 season.

Coming out of high school, Bradford was a top-15 interior offensive lineman in the country, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2019 cycle. He blocked for a quarterback who broke the Muskegon High school passing record. The program was the winningest program in Michigan state high school history. The mammoth offensive lineman showed off his strength at a combine in the summer of 2018, cranking out 31 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Tigers pull off win over Mississippi State without Bradford

Despite the absence of Bradford, LSU won on Saturday night, 31-16, in a pretty hard-fought game. The Tigers poured on 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Mississippi State. The LSU defense did an excellent job against Bulldogs signal-caller Will Rogers, limiting him to just 214 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. It will likely go down as one of the worst performances of the season for Rogers. He just completed 57 percent of his passes.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels had a dazzling performance, racking up over 300 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the winning effort.
