Tim Tebow and Roman Harper of SEC Network believe Jayden Daniels deserves some Heisman love at the moment.

After leading LSU to another victory last weekend, Tebow believes it’s time we put Daniels on a pedestal, and he made his case during The Paul Finebaum Show on Friday afternoon.

“I think he’s playing at an elite level, he really is. … He’s playing hurt. He’s doing it with his legs. He’s doing it with toughness. He’s doing it obviously with his arm. The big play. … They don’t flinch, and Jayden hasn’t flinched all year,” the former Heisman winner said. “I think he deserves a lot of credit, and I still believe that he’s in the Heisman race.”

Harper was in full agreement with Tebow, believing that without Daniels, the Tigers would be in immense trouble at the moment.

“There’s no doubt about it, he’s in the Heisman race,” Harper agreed. “He’s accounting for more touchdowns than just about anyone in the country right now, and he’s carrying this whole team. Not just the offense, but the whole team.

“He’s getting it to his play-makers in space, and LSU right now, they’re going to be dangerous versus anybody, because they can put up 42-45 points, no matter who they’re playing.”

Moreover, Jayden Daniels currently ranks No. 2 nationally in total offense at 398.5 yards per game.

While LSU has played below expectations thus far in 2023, it’s far from their quarterback’s fault. The Tigers are currently 4-2 with losses to Florida State and Ole Miss. LSU allowed 100 combined points in those two games, and on the season, the Tigers are allowing 32.3 points per game, which ranks No. 113 nationally.

Another media pundit who believes Daniels deserves his flowers is Joel Klatt, as he explained it’s time for the LSU quarterback to be mentioned among the best in the sport.

“These two guys are having excellent seasons. In large part, they’re the reason their teams are succeeding. Because they don’t have very good defenses, and in Colorado’s case they barely have an offensive line. And yet here they are still succeeding,” Klatt said regarding Daniels and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, via The Joel Klatt Show “Guess what? Same thing with Jayden Daniels. That defense is horrific.

“If Jayden Daniels had a defense at all, he would be 1 or 2 in this Heisman race right now. But he’s not, in large part because the LSU Tigers don’t play any defense.”

Alas, it remains to be seen if Jayden Daniels can make some ground in the Heisman race, but his hype train is picking up steam regardless at the moment.
