Luther Burden is in the midst of a huge year for Missouri as a sophomore, leading the Tigers with more than 900 receiving yards. But in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Georgia, fans held their breath as the trainers tended to him in the end zone.

Burden went to catch a pass from Brady Cook as Mizzou tried to re-take the lead over Georgia, and he appeared to tweak his ankle on the incompletion. During the commercial break, he headed to the sideline under his own power and was seen testing out his leg while wearing his helmet.

CBS’ Amanda Guerra then provided an update, saying Burden refused to go in the medical tent and walking around the sidelines to try and shake the injury off.

“An update for you on Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden. The team tells me that injury, he’s just going to try to walk it off right now,” Guerra said. “They pulled up the injury tent, he refused to go in. Hasn’t even really met with the trainers. Just walking along the sideline here. He sat down with the other wide receivers. Obviously, we’re close to half, so we might get a better update for you on exactly what that injury is [and] if he’s going to continue to play after half.”

Missouri wound up kicking a field goal to tie things up at 10-10, giving the Bulldogs the ball back. Burden returned on the next offensive series.

Georgia answered back to Burden’s touchdown catch with a score of its own to re-take the lead 10-7. But Missouri’s field goal knotted things back up, and that score held as the two teams headed to the locker room.
