On Thursday, Missouri added one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.

Royersford (Pa.) Spring-Ford four-star Matt Zollers is the nation’s No. 46 overall prospect, No. 5 quarterback and top recruit from Pennsylvania in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

But, On3 is even higher on Zollers.

He ranks No. 17 overall and No. 3 among quarterbacks in the 2025 On300.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power broke down what Mizzou is getting with Zollers on The Inside Scoop football recruiting show.

“I think Matt Zollers has some of the best reactive playmaking skills in this 2025 quarterback cycle,” Power said. “Everything about him is translatable. He’s 6-foot-3.5, 200 pounds. Plus-athlete, big arm. He makes plays on Friday nights that translate really well to making big plays against pressure at the college level.”

Missouri recruiting momentum

Zollers is currently the lone commit in Missouri’s 2025 recruiting class. But, his commitment continues the momentum that Eli Drinkwitz’s staff found in the 2024 cycle when the Tigers landed three top-150 recruits.

“I think this is a statement recruiting win for Missouri,” Power said. “We’ve seen their recruiting take off over the past year or so — signed Williams Nwaneri, a five-star, in 2024. I think Matt Zollers is a guy that you can really build your program around assuming he continues to get better and takes off once he’s in college. I think he has a shot at being their starting quarterback after Brady Cook. Such a big-time talent, and I think he really helps them maintain grabbing a foothold in the SEC.”

Room for improvement?

Despite already being one of the highest-rated recruits in the 2025 class, there is still time for Zollers to improve before this cycle comes to a close. Summer camps and a long high school football season are still on the horizon.

“We should get to see Matt Zollers on the camp circuit,” Power said. “I think just comparing the physical traits and tools among the top quarterbacks in the cycle like at the Elite 11 Final. Then just watching progression as a senior, just consistency and adding polish to his game. Producing on a week-in and week-out basis, continuing to show improvement.

“He’s a guy who is a well-rounded prospect, so there’s not really one area where you’re saying that this is a glaring weakness. But I think continual improvement and comparing him, how he stacks up in what is a pretty good class at the top in 2025 for quarterbacks.”
