Kernersville (N.C.) East Forsyth four-star quarterback Bryce Baker is staying home as he committed the the North Carolina Tar Heels. He announced the news on Twitter.

Baker is the No. 279 overall prospect and No. 19 quarterback in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in North Carolina.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound signal-caller is ranked as the No. 209 player in the country and the No. 16 quarterback in the 2025 On300.

He is the first pledge in North Carolina’s 2025 recruiting class.

North Carolina extended an offer to Baker in May. It was one that immediately made an impression on him.

“I am grateful, excited and humbled by their offer as I was with the other universities,” Baker told On3’s Jeremy Johnson. “I reach out and speak with coach (Chip) Lindsey weekly establishing a relationship to get to know the coaches and the Carolina program.”

Prior to his pledge, Baker had stayed busy in June with trips to Clemson (June 1), Alabama (June 3), North Carolina (June 7), NC State (June 10), Duke (June 13), Wake Forest (June 16) and South Carolina (June 19).

Bryce Baker currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $37K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
