Late in December, Marshall Pritchett anounced his Top 10 schools. One of those was North Carolina. The ACC program in Chapel Hill has had the 6-foot-5, 210-pound tight end out of Rabun Gap (Ga.) Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School on campus four times. He was there for the Duke game during the season, then he returned last weekend.

“My biggest highlights [on this visit] were being able to sit down and watch film with the staff and to just feel wanted by them. It was a great feeling,” Pritchett told On3.

Pritchett got time with Mack Brown, Chip Lindsey and Freddie Kitchens on this visit. All three recruit him hard and their message is clear.

“Their message to me is that I could be an early contributor and be in a position to have a lot of touches over the course of my career.”

The Tar Heels are a strong contender in this race. The No. 312 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings continues to list North Carolina high on his list.

“After this visit, my thoughts with North Carolina stay the same,” Pritchett said. “I’m a big fan of the staff and the way they use tight ends.

“What keeps me going back is how I love the way Coach Kitchens is and his intensity when it comes to coaching. It’s great to know he’s very experienced with his time spent in the NFL and in college. The offensive coordinator, Coach Linsley, is also a great coach who knows how to get his big guys out in space.

“I want to get back down there sometime in the spring before decision time.”

Miami will have Pritchett on campus this weekend. He will visit Georgia on Feb. 3, then Wisconsin on Feb. 4. He is looking to visit schools like Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Texas A&M and USC in the spring.

When Pritchett released his Top 10 a few weeks ago, when asked about his timeline, he said, “I am looking at a decision sometime in the spring. I am going to take as many visits as I can before the next dead period, then try to get it down to five schools in my head and make a decision.

“I think by the end of May, I could have my decision made. That is not locked in, but that is what I have been thinking. I will continue to build relationships, take as many visits as I can, then see how I feel. My plan is to make an early decision, then enroll early with the school I choose.”
